Thats what i would love to see, atm there isn't much reward for having a huge city, other then making them Research centers etc.
So why not allow large citys to place there own Starport, alot of ppl i have talked to think its a good idea, not to mention the advantage this would offer to ppl with vendors in such a city.
Any1 else like the idea?

I love the idea and think that this would be a great addition to Player Cities and a reward to cities reaching Metropolis status. Unfortunately once again player cities are becoming the victim of flip flopping by the development team as to their purpose. When player cities were introduced they were considered player content and as a way to remove stress from the NPC city servers. Now SOE claims that they want the players back in the NPC cities.

I like the idea, but we just can't have a starport in every city (there are a lot of metropolis's). My idea is to have each city that wants a starport to set aside the space needed for one then to award the starport to the most populated city on the planet. So each city competes to get the highest population and once it changes the starport poofs to the new most populated city. I hope it wasn't to hard to grasp lol

i like that idea and of course people would just stand around goin 'JOIN OUR CITY XX MEMBERS TILL WE GET THE STARPORT' internal competition as always

I play on Farstar and Chimaera, Metropolis r maybe 1 or 2 per planet in the busy citys (not that i have counted) , it would maybe encourage more allied guilds to band together etc into 1 huge city etc.
Maybe there could be a Rank above metropolis for starport, i think it would add alot more character to servers

This idea would reduce the shuttleport ticket credit sink. I think the current system works pretty well.

As much as i like the idea, i would not like to see it coded. I thinkwe should be aiming to make player cities more unique and less like NPC city clones.

I do like all the bridges and arches and otherwise worthless decorations that NPC cities have.

Wont happend because that would render the NPC cities almost completely useless. I also think SOE have stated something about it before that because of this only static cities will have star ports.

Bad idea. What happens if you land at a PC starport and while you're on the planet, the city drops a rank and the starport goes poof? Theoretically, your ship goes poof too. Too much room for exploiting. People would be losing ships left and right, chaos would ensue and there would be rioting in the streets! Maybe...

Yeah they did say they wanted us to stay in NPC cities, but they should make us WANT to go there rather than being forced to. Otherwise the guy above me is correct.
