Lo all 
I bring here before thee a very dumb question about components 
Let's say for brandy, i need 2 identical alcohols right? So can i use for example 3 types of factory crates with 3 different serial numbers?
I have never tryed but i have a loads of crates of alcohol with different serials.

They all must have the same serial # for each run. We are currently begging them to change that. Its very annoying to end up with a lot of small amounts of the same component and having to waste resources.

You have to use the EXACT same resource that you used in the schematic.
If you use Alcohol with the serial 123456789 in the schematic than the factory will only run with alcohol that has the serial 123456789, and will not with abcdefg even though those are identical (to themselves) too, but they aren't to the schematic
Only exception so far are Casks (well and Large/Small Glasses), you can use any there without looking for the Serial Number.
Rumor has it that the name is important though, I can't tell since all my Casks are simply named "Cask" and therefor all have the same name.
