Thread: Zuh? What is up with my factories?

No, I've been having the same problem and in addition my output hoppers seem to have a capacity of 35 now....What a pain in the arse. They need to fix it fast cause it is ruining crafting for so many people.

It sucks yes

Factories get bugged pretty fast now, since the servers are only reseted once every few days.

I gone over to redeed and build my factory new again, before making long runs of something. I know that a lot of you have the factories on other peoples lots and thats not possible then.

Usually you can make a run of 1000 and a run of 500 in the same factory. 2 times 1000 usually gets it bugged.
Actually thats not quite correct but works for chef since our stuff crates in 25.

It seems to be a pattern:
You can fill half of whats free, before it stops. Unfortunately that value doesn't get reset when you take stuff out of a factory. (sounds complicated, but once you understand it, you can guess if a run is safe or not)

Example: Powerups, crates of 10. New Factory.
100 items free, half of it 50.
After 500 the factory stops, thats exactly 50 crates. Now 50 are free, half of it are 25.
Empty the factory, and fill the input hopper again.
Now it stops after 250. voila, 25 crates. the "internal filling" (due to lack of a better word) is now at 75 (50+25) so its 25 free and half of it is 12.5
Now it should stop after 12 crates. I'm not sure if another crate is half filled, since i never tried it so far.

2nd Example: Alcohol. Crates of 25, full run. New factory
1000 items are made, 40 crates. 60 free, half is 30.
Now you make brandy with that alcohol.
Full run of brandy is 20 crates max, thats less than 30 so it works.
Now the "internal filling" is 60. So its 40 free and of that you can fill 20.
So you could make another run of 20. I don't I usually redeed my factory at this point to be sure.


This has been the pattern for me so far, when i watched it.
I'm not sure if its the same if you don't empty the hopper. For example if you leave the Alcohol in the factory and use other Alcohol for the brandy, it might screw up.
I THINK its still the same though, but i'm not sure.

Just passing through and noticed the thread. This issue has been addressed on the Architect boards as a known bug and is being addressed by the Devs.

Start a run of 1000 whatevers, get an email later saying that there was a bug, and the factory couldnt create a crate to put the item in, please submit a bug report! I go to the factory, shuffle some things around in the hoppers, restart, and it's fine. Is this just me?

I had it happen too! I just noticed it! I went to the arch forums to read about what the new speculation about the cause of our factory woes was, and, while totally unintentional, I had the "phantom item" happen to me too. I just put in the exact amounts necessary to make some rakririan burnout sauce, but I somehow forgot the liquid petrochem fuel, so I went back to get it and when I looked at the other resources that I'd measured exact amounts of, they were all missing one use, although no item was created because I was mission the petro. Once the batch is finished, I'll come back and let you know if the full amount was created (I'm expecting a run of exactly 131 sauces), despite the initial missing ingredients.

It still doesn't explain why factories would stop short, but at least it seems to make sense as to why there are times when they stop short at odd numbers and intervals.
