Thread: Testing results on bioengineering and UXP
OK just ran some tests on UXP and bioeng components. The summary is they both work, though bioeng is not so hot unless you can really use all the stats it provides.
Chef UXP:
Made wastril bread for 70 exp. Gave it to someone to eat and when he finished the stack I had 35 additional exp. So it's 50% confirmed.
Artisan UXP:
Did the same experiment with an artisan food (Caf). I got 50% in general crafting exp.
BioEng effects:
Was given a Bio-Strength formula with bonuses to health, str, const, action, quick, and stamina. I used it on some meatlump, which without the component boosts con. The completed meatlump had more con than usual, which seemed to be about the amount more that was in the formula. The other stats were not reflected in the meatlump. I tried this twice, and ate to check that the stats had the advertised affect when used. BTW my exp for making the meatlump was the same with or without formula.
So, I think that bioeng components have the intended affect, but only on stats that the food already has.
BioEng UXP:
We had someone eat the bioengineered meatlump. I received my usual 50% UXP (15). He receive 150% (150, got 100 exp to make). Made me jealous.
I just did a test this evening with some chef food I had crafted. I had given the guy some of my food awhile ago. I was off sampling and asked him to eat an entire stack of some food. He did. My food crafting xp didn't change. I wasn't paying attention to general crafting xp to see if that changed. So something is slightly broken with UXP.
I heard that you only get xp from factories making items when you are near them. I'm beginning to think that UXP for food is much the same way. If you are near the person when they finish off a stack of food/drink, then you get xp. If you are far away, then you don't.
With factory food not being stackable and spices only coming as one use, I'm beginning to think that the developers are wanting chefs to travel with a group. That we aren't restaurant chefs, but campfire cooks, keeping an army fed and well nourished. It is hard for a player to buy a week's worth of food and find a place to put it all, but a chef can carry tens of thousands of a resource and craft in the field, passing out goodies as needed. Plus in the field the chef can cater the food to the situation. Peko pekos tear up your mind pool, so time to whip up some Charde or something.
At our starsider chef convention last night, we discovered many intresting things...
One, UXP does work. However for it to work, the whole thing must be eated...but tehre is more.
As long as the last bite of the stack is eaten by someone other than you...you get 50% UXP. Meaning i could eat say 4/5 of a wastril bread i made, and give the last stack to a friend to eat....and since he took the last bite, the UXP goes to me.
No meat lump for me : (
Uxp from factories is broken. Factory food doesn't give uxp. Hand crafted CHEF food gives 50% uxp(uxp is only from the final combine). I wrote in detail about uxp and when you do or dont get it in another post... there isn't many here, so it shouldn't be hard to find ![]()
As far as factory xp: You must be logged in, and within 2km of your factory to get it. I generally spend time while waiting for factories running missions, dancing in the cantina's,chatting with PA members and trying out new stuff(I spent a while foraging today, and plan on going fishing tomorrow
) There's plenty of stuff you can do within 2km of your factory... I've set up all my harvesters within that range for that very reason(chefs definitely cant afford offplanet harvesters
)

I didn't notice any difference when I put micronutrient supplies in my soypro... I think the only thing it does now is give th bioengy uxp
You just need the right addative, and micronutrient is not what you want in your meatlump. Biodtrength is what you wnat for your meatlump and you will see dramatic increases. The reults I posted in another thread are going to be better than yours unless you are a BE and experimenting on your addatives.
I will make a run and try again tonight.
