Thread: How to Determine How Much Exp a Food/Drink gives...
First of all: Let me make clear that SualDevon created this theory. This is all his observation! Give him the congratz, not me! But I do want to make a thread on this so that everybody is aware of how it works. This way, when people achieve a new skill box, they will instantly be able to tell how much exp a food item gives without having to test out all of the items and waste valuable time and resources.
Disclaimer: I'm not positive if this is true for all cases, but it is for the ones SualDevon tested. Futhermore, I'm not sure if this is already commonly known, so don't flame me if this formula is already understood.
Formula: Count up the number of raw resources it takes to produce a food or drink item (ignore other ingredients like Soypro and Carbosyrup for now). Double that number. Then take the other ingredients like Carbosyrup and Soypro. Find out how many resources it took to produce those other ingredients. Add this number to the previous doubled number.
Examples:
Wastril Bread. Requires 15 wheat, 10 wheat, and 10 fruit. 35 total resources. Double that number to get 70 exp.
Starshine Surprise. Requires 15 reactive gas, 15 cereal (?), and 10 mineral. 40 total resources. Double that number and get 80 exp total.
Charde. Requires 5 mineral, 5 organics, 5 water. 15 total resources. Double that number and get 30 exp total.
Caramelized Pkneb. Requires 20 bone, 20 fruit (?), and 1 Carbosyrup. 40total resources.Double that number and get 80 exp total. Carbosyrup takes 6 Flora Food to make. Add 6 more exp to get 86 exp total.
Forgot to add: Since the number of resources is proportional to the amount of exp you get, it really doesn't matter if you grind with items that require few resources, or if you grind with items that require many resources. Grinding with a 15 resource/30 exp Charde should, in theory, take just as long as grinding with a 35 resource/70 exp Wastril Bread. This is assuming that you're spending time getting the resources yourself, because you'll have to spend that extra time getting those additional resources which is the downside of getting the exp.
But if you have a factory, or you're totally rich and can buy resources instantly, then Wastril Bread is clearly the way to go. Otherwise, Charde and Wastril Bread, along with ANY other food, is pretty much equal.
