Thread: Need advice with food prices in cantina
I'm currently a chef and bartender on Lowca in the Kaadara Cantina. Heres my current menu with prices:
Aircake 25cr Jawa Beer 70cr
Almond Munchies 30cr Starshine Suprise 50cr
Blap Biscuits 40crCharde 30cr
Dustcrepes 30cr
Teltier Noodles 70cr
Wastril Bread 60cr
I'm there all day in cantina except when I go to my harvesters, but I still make a measly 3k cr in a full day at best. Are my prices too low? I'm afraid if I go higher people won't buy the food, they already dont buy it at these prices. Only 3 out 10 people, approximately, that come into the cantina actually buy some sort of food. When I think of it, I probably make more money as an entertainer playing music. I get some good 1k cr tips sometimes. Help me out
If you think they are too low, raise your prices 'til people stop buying. Then drift them back down. Find the market, but try to make it as high as possible ![]()
I sell them for 200 credits thats what I meant by (4servings foir 200) sorry for the confusion.
The stats I get are between 95 and 100 to Constitution. When I am lucky.
I use fungus or beanswith high potential energy and wheat with the same to make the soypro.
Experiment to my best ability on the soypro
Then use High quality H2O in the meatlump
And hope for the best when experimenting. I usemy 2points at once (has an error chance of 55%) but this way I only have to get lucky once.
now a typo I can't edit:
200 credits is what I meant by (5 servings for 200)
It's better than destroying it all.
As a chef who refuses to do missions of any sort, I charge 175-225 for those items, depending on their quality. Starshine and Noodles go for 225, while the other less difficult items go for 175. However, I think you may already have made the crucial mistake.
I don'tsay the price until the player approcahes the bar or sends me a /tell. There have been only TWO players who have actually refused to purchase my goods because it was too expensive, and that's out of a hundred players or more. People are never turned off by the price--you have to keep in mind that almost ALL players except for newbs have sufficient money (anybody can get rich quick with missions). Higher prices are the way to go.
But, back to that crucial mistake I mentioned above. I think that since you already STARTED low, your former customers will be turned off by the increase in price, even though they can easily afford it anyway. I suggest gradually increasing the price so that the change is not so conspicious.
I sell much lower quantity, but very high quality. I destroy anything that doesn't meet my standards.
For example my Starshine Surprise (Servings 4; Str +157; Sta +157, Focus -35 all for 490 seconds) I sell for 200 credits, and I have yet to see an unsatisfied customer.
Those who do not appreciate the food and beverage industry(yet) do not buy it, but those that do appreciate italways come back for more.
I sell a lot of Jawa Beer, also high quality, 3 servings for 120. This goes over very well with everyone. Mainly because it says "beer" and it is a bar, and many buy it for those reasons alone.
I just started selling meatlumps (5 servings for 200). But I lose on these, because I destroy about 15 failures for every 1 that meets my standards.
