Thread: Whats the diff between a harvester and a flora farm?
Medium flora farms (called automated flora farms) cost significantly more than say a medium mineral harvester.
Not only that, but as for the large flora farms...i haven't found an architect that is willing to make one due to the resource cost, and much time needed to be spent at the factory (as it calls for a lot of identical items).
Yeah, but what he's pointing out is that the medium flora harvester (and chem harvester) cost about 3x the materials/price of a medium mineral harvester.
I'm a master architect (investigating the kitchen, so to speak), and I can attest that the costs to make these items are way out of balance with the costs to make the mineral harvesters (or even the medium energy harvester, Solar).
This is really nasty in the face of poor profits from the Chef profession. When I tell a prospective Chef customer that a med flora costs ~40K and a heavy closer to 100K, they usually faint. You can't fully utilize your factories (heh, another 45K), without the speed of gathering in the advanced harvesters.

The resource difference is the same as mineral to chemical harvester resources. Theres a bug that some require 3 wall modules, others require structural modules.... a wall module takes 10 structure modules
Until they fix that, there is an inequality in the resources needed for the same scale.
It's an issue. I was ready to throw down 175k for 3 heavys...but they can't be made at this time. heh
Hrm. I'll have to check, but I thought I did get a harvesting mechanism blueprint to load.
