Thread: Does power type and quality make a difference?
I couldn't tell a difference, using solar or radioactive. The radioactive had the same quality but 3 times the P.E.
Is quantity the sole determination for haversters and factories operation length?
PE is important due to the fact that a PE of 1000 acts as 2 units of power instead of 1.A PE 500 or below acts as 1 unit of power. Inbetween 500 and 1000, it acts as a percentage with 750PE acting as 1.5 units of power.
Many people price accordingly.
I didn't either until one day I was adding power to a harvestor, and the slider bar said I had about 15K of power able to be passed into the harvestor. A guild member had only given me a stack of 10K of radioactive though. Turns out the PE was close to 750.
I forgot to mention wind, solar, or radioactive doesn't matter. However, people selling power most often sell radioactive as it provides the lowest maintenance costs per unit of power mined.
Not true if you use a fusion reactor. They only take maintenance money like wind or solar generators.
If you use a mineral harvestor to mine radioactive, it does use power to run. Odd eh?
So chefs out there mining radioactive for you aludiums, make sure you are using a fusion reactor. They are expensive to begin with but you will soon see the savings.
Are you sure thats the case? I tried some wind power p.e. 27, solar 200, radioactive 615 and they all gave the same amount of time for me.
I'm trying to find some different quality stuff to see if that matters since the all had roughly the same quality.

The PE is calculated into the "deposit power" window. What you put into the harvester are "power units" which is different from the units of actual power resources.
So JediSwedishChef had 10k of radioactive with PE 750. When he went to deposit that into a harvester, the powerwindow showed him as having 15k (the 10k * 1.5 for the PE). Depositing 1200 into a medium harvester will run it for 24 hours no matter what PE the power is. But that 1200 deposit will use up 1200 units of 500 PE, 800 units of 750 PE, or only 600 units of 1000 PE.

Right. Think of power resource units as having a power effectiveness units. Your inventory shows resource units but the "deposit power" window lets you see it as represented in power effective units.
I'm just glad PE below 500 don't seem to act as less power ![]()
You're correct missed the part about below 500 acting as 1 still which made me think there all the same roughly.
