I've seen conflicting reports and my own limited experimentation has been inconclusive.

Experimenting on Artisan level subcomponents does or does not make a difference in the final Chef level item? Example Carbosyrups in Rhyscate. Can I use crap organics in carbosyrup and not bother to experiment and still create the same Rhyscate as I would have if I used good organics to make good Carbosyrups coupled with good experimentation?

How about Veghash? Vegsparsine wants two Veghash. Can I make crap soypro for the Veghash and make good Veghash and then use the good Veghash to make good Vegsparsine?

I think this varies. I've noticed differences in items where I had to use carbosyrups and doughs and soypros in stuff, but when I make crappy Starshine Surprises and experimented Surprises, the end result in Tatooine Sunburns is the same... It's kind of trial and error, but some things do work and some don't...

I think that components have a "hidden" bonus that they give to the final product, both to the buff and duration. In fact, I'm pretty sure I remember seeing them on carbosyrup's detailsat one point (although this may have been an grind-induced hallucination). I did some testing, and a syrup made with good resources + maxed nutrition experimentation had about +15 more in the buff than one made with bad resources + no experimentation. Maxing Flavor added about 10-15s to the duration. Other than the carbosyrup, I used identical resources and compared the values before experimentation.

For low-level foods, the difference may be worth it, but for things like Rysh or Angerian you may want to keep your good flora for other uses.

Now, for sunburns there doesn't seem to be any carry-over of the starshine stats. I've tried any number of combinations for the starshines (duration, buff size, quantity), and as long as I used the same reactive gas the final product was identical. This may be due to the fact that starshines are a usable food on their own, so the component calculation gets skipped. Vegeparsine seems to be bugged the same way, the final results are only affected by the base resources, the quality of the veghash isn't considered. Although I haven't done nearly as much testing on that, so I could be wrong.
