I am not a chef, I am a food consumer...and I have to ask this question. While the new foods are promising, they haven't been tested yet...I'm not saying they'll fail, but fishak and pate sold VERY well before.
Why must a possible success cost chefs what we all know is a guaranteed success?

thank you! i hate soe for taking things away with the lame promise of giving me something better. I hate having my menu reduced in size after working so hard for it and having chef for over 5 months I hate having to put up with lame "give aways" and having to sacrifice my schematics for some lame promise soe makes we all know is going to be bugged to heck, we all know everything is always bugged because we play beta everyday we all know it the only thing is that soe gets away with it because they all know we like the game.

I feel compelled to point out that I didn't find Fishak as useful as others seemed to think it was. It was a simple mind boost and that's all. While that will help you survive combat with one creature, or perhaps one group, it soon runs out and doesn't regenerate any faster than it did before you had the buff. You have to rest even longer to restore the stat to previous levels. This is particularly important for the non-combat activities (such as healing, DNA sampling, or surveying). My ideal mental buff would be a willpower buff of 400-600 that lasts 15-20 minutes. That would allow my existing mind to recuperate faster reducing or eliminating any rest time that may be required (throw in a focus buff and you really start getting some good buffs!).
That being said, I don't miss Fishak. While it was a money maker for those who cared to produce it, I saw no real value in the product. I don't quite remember what Pate did as I never had one person in game ask me if I could make it... never even gave it a try.
