There's a bug hitting some people (I had it happen to me on Testcenter) where the xp gains aren't displayed in the monitor bar or on the skill sheet. Try logging out, waiting a few minutes, and logging back in. You should get all the xp you didn't see, and from there the earned xp will add to the displayed numbers.

This is assuming you're making items from the Novice Chef box (soypro, alcohol, air cake, biscuits). Foods from the Dom Arts tree (and all containers, it seems) give general crafting xp.
