Thread: New Buff System works in mysterious ways.

Well the 2% resource quality buff works, but not in the way I understood it. I assumed that the 2% buff would be applied to initial prototype, before any experimentation took place. However, even with the buff the basic stats of all of my foods (Tried high stat foods, so any % change would be clearly apparent), the initial prototype was the same. It seems that the 2% buff pushes the max % you can xp too, as I was able to get a few more points of power past the norm with the buff.

Any thoughts?

Here's how I think it works:

Let's say you're making something simple, likeBlob Candy. This only has one resource, fruit, plus the carbosyrup which doesn't have any effect on the final product.

Let's say you use some berries with 500 DR, 900 PE, 800 FL, and 750 OQ.

Without the buff, the max nutrition percentage would be ( 66% * PE + 33% * OQ ) / 10 = 85%. The starting percentage calculation is a little trickier, but it would be roughly 23% (give or take a point, since rounding is still a little fuzzy).

With the buff, the fruit's stats would count as 2% higher. So using the same fruit, the crafting system treats it as if it was 510 DR, 918 PE, 816 FL, 765 OQ. Running through the same calculations, this would put the max percentage 86%. The starting percentage remains at 23%, although there is a bit of an increase after the decimal place (which ends up getting rounded out). Depending on the actual resource stats, you might get an extra percentage on your starting assembly (assuming the same success type), but no more than that.

I basically just ran some buff / unbuffed numbers through my "electronic cookbook" spreadsheet (link in the "Read this" sticky). The starting percentage is affected by resource stats (obvious if you use resources with widely different stats), but not by a enough for a 2% increase to really show up.

It's a very small buff, so I would personally expect it to affect things differently depending on the stats and what you're making.

For example - used my usual recipe on Pikatta pie, no change, 54/24m16s with an 87 additive (yes I know, what a lowly additive!) and get all the same usual stats. Used the other fruit I would rather use which normally only gives me 53/24m32s and it gives me 54/24m32s. So, at least for me, I'd expect it to be all about trial and error and I won't expect it to affect everything.

I wanted to read your entire post. Really, I did. But I could not get past this line. What self respecting Chef would ever use berries with stats like that?

It will be interesting to see the posts over the nextcouple weeks. I just finished a huge crafting push so vendors are stocked for a couple weeks. This is the first patch thatchangedChef directly that I was not chomping at the bit to see how it all panned out. I will take in all the posts and then see how I feel about it when it is time to craft again. This way I don't make a rash decision and respec to Master Squadleader or something.

I got a whole extra 12 seconds on my Pica! /squeal

Ok, that was maybe a little sarcastic happiness but meh, buff doesn't really bother me and if it gives me an extra few seconds on some things I'll take it.

I never notice my starting percentages so I can't really say if those are changing at all.

Yeah, I did notice a few things that made me happy...

+103 Vegeparsine (Most likely +103 Pica as well, was already at +102)...

And just a few extra points here and there, at least it's something new to learn...

Iv been seeing the same as what Sciguy was explaining the end % usually a little higher but the starting % usually the same as before

Its just enough to boost your foods a few sec or make them a little more powerful, I like it.

I think 5% would rock, but I will take what we can get
