Thread: Getting worried about Episode III

Ok, let's take a look at the importance of chefs in the movies.

In A New Hope, you had Aunt Beru and Wuher, both of whom are chefs. Really, where would Luke be without Aunt Beru?

In Empire Strikes Back....ah, I love Irvin Kershner. This is why Empire Strikes Back was the best directed of the movies (although A New Hope is my personal favorite.) He did not have to be as bold and brash as Lucas or Marquand. He did not have to come out and state, "Yes, chefs are in this movie!" By having that nice dinner laid out in front of Darth Vader on Bespin, he merely had to imply that there were chefs in the movie. It is that subtlety that made him such a great director.

Then we get to Return of the Jedi...my least favorite of the original three. Yet, it was not without merrit. It did indeed have chefs. There was Jabba's chef who consoled Maliki after witnessing the death of his pet Rancor. And there was the Ewok chefs who attempted to nicely prepare Catpain Solo before they found religion. Nice bit of drama there. And would the ewkos really have been successful if they went to battle on an empty stomach?

And I just want to point out, when Chewbacca tried to eat that meat raw, without taking it to a chef first, he put himself and all of his friends in perril. If he had a nice meal first, prepared by the chef, he would not have gotten into as much trouble as he did. Sure, things turned out for the best, but just barely.

Episode I was probably the worse of the series, and it is no cooincidence that it had the least amount of chefs in there. Sure there was Shmi, and there was the guy who chased Jar Jar for stealing his frog (the exact name excapes me.) Still, the chef content was slim and I think that showed in the movie.

Ah, but then we get to Episode II, the Chefs crowning glory. Dexter Jettster and his diner! Obviously the star of the film, and one of the most expensive characters to create. When Lucas could not figure out how to move the plot along he did the only thing he could: threw in a chef. And what a chef he was! 2 arms would just not cut it. And there was Padme's mom and the implied chefs in the night club scene.

What worries me is that I have been reading the rumors of Episode III, and have not heard about any chefs in it. Since this is the last of the franchise, I want it to go out with a bang. But with the lack of chefs I am seeing, I am not getting my hopes up.

Has anybody heard any rumors about this?

She wasn't much of a chef thou. Padame just sat there and stirred the (oatmeal?), and JarJar opted for fruit.

And Breu - don't recal Luke ever eating the meal she made after allher hard work, he had to run off cause he had 'issues' -- and how come Jabba has a chef if he just goes for live frogs?

Aspiring novice chef.

Its obvious that most of those chefs there were holo chefs and not the true masters. Sad.
