I read alot about those +20 "experimentation" tapes or even higher values and on the other handthere are people selling "food assembly" skilltapes as well so I was wondering which would help me more to get my brandy in the upper 400s, thanks in advance !

That would be food experimentation. Food experimentation represents the physical amount of points you can distribute to a food's attributes after crafting it. If I remember correctly, every 10+ to food experimentation = 1 extra point to experiment with. I also know these tapes are very expensive and hard to get, been looking for them for a while now on starsider.

Food assembly however is the skill mod that determines what type of success you have on the actual combine of the food, "good success" "great success" "amazing success" and so on and so forth. I wouldn't be too concerned about those, if you have the money, go for the food experimentation tapes.

this is correct, but it also helps with your experimentation success. Meaning, like assembly, when you put in your experimentation points you can get a failure, good success, great success, amazing success. This is also effected by the experimentation points.
