Thread: Food types

I have found that while there must be many different types of food, for the most part only a few are commonly seen. My question is what types of foods should I be looking for as a pure combat character. I use brandy and blue milk (drinks), synthsteak, knockdown foods and the food that boosts the secondary to mind. I’m a Rifleman/TKA so I don’t need to use the dodge foods but I would like to know if there are other things out there I should be looking for and am hoping people here can help me.

Also, what is the opinion on the usefulness of different foods? Foods and drinks can only be taken in limited amounts and so in general what is the best combination of food and drinks to take for different situations?

Thanks for any input you can provide.

hmm, not sure if chefs are the only people you should be asking this question...since a lot of us aren't rifleman/women. You should also ask this question to your professions board - they prolly could get really technical with this stuff (what food to take, what time to take them and especially for what combinations work best). Different people have different fighting styles, so depending on your style...or even depending upon whether you PvP or not - your food intake might be different.

I'm only a Pistolleer - so I'm gonna go off what happens to me in combat and try to recommend some other foods for you as best I can. (I'm gonna sound so newbie for sure, but since no one has responded yet...)

You have the basics, your mind foods stacked to handle what the docs can't buff with your Brandy and Canape and Milk for Healing.

You also have Synthsteak for damage reduction and your normal dodge foods.

have you considered foods for accuracy, avoiding being stunned/dizzied/blinded/bleeded/diseased? Not sure if rifleman can be stunned/dizzied/blinded/bleeded/diseased seeing as you are long range fighers. You could prolly use the accuracy tho:

Crispic Attack Accuracy +10-18 9-18m 17-10% filling

Citros Snow Cake Attack Accuracy +15-25 16-32m 29-19% filling

Do you have use for ranged defense?

Elshandruu Pica ThundercloudRanged Defense+7-1412-24m17% filling

If you use spice(muon recommended), ofcourse, there's smuggler's delight to combat the downer.

If you have novice medic - you prolly could use some healing food too - but I'm assuming not.

here's some rifleman threads that talk a little about food and some people's combinations:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=rifleman&message.id=61192&highlight=food+combination#M61192

But if I were you, I'd post directly to them (the riflemen) and see what kind of responses you get. It doesn't seem like there was too much talk about combinations after the chef revamp - be the first to ask it again.

Here's a complete listing of everything available (with rough buff/duration/filling/quantity values) in case you haven't seen it:

http://www.gamekast.com/swg/foodtables.html

I do mostly PvE wihtout doc buffs, and use Garrmorl and Accaragm as my main drinks, for foods I use Vercupti (HAM boost), synthsteak, Citros Snow cake (accuracy), Pikkata Pie ("dodge" food), and sometimes the desserts for secondary stats (canape, kiwik, wan-wan) depending on how I'm doing. I also carry a few Sweesonberry rolls for when I send my mount in to tank for me.

And just so you know, the "dodge" foods (Air cake, Pikkata Pie, Fizz pudding) are a bit misleading. They give a generic defense bonus, it's not a bonus to the "Dodge" pistoleer/fencer skill. Any combat profession can benefit from them.

well, there are two foods that do that. canapes everyone has heard of, they do both focus and willpower, but only last around 9-12 minutes. there's another food that not everybody knows about, but is perfect for rifleman. called ahrisa, it does only focus, not willpower, but it lasts around 40 minutes. mine is +401 for 43 minutes or so, at 32 filling. just wanted to mention it, since very rifleman i've ever given a sample to, has come back and bought at least one crate, they love it!

KMadness Candy Treats and Junk Food

Twilight's End, Naboo (-3036, 5300)
vercupti (+75 prec) thakitillo (+77 sta)
flameout (+65 con) mando (49 fill 19 min +54 str)

Hmm, good to know, glad I poked my head in while this was still floating

So is this a sort of 'Defensive Acuity'? Such as the TK mod which increases dodge/counter/block chances, which I belive is the same relm as CoB...I had previously thought it was only usable for pistol/fencer, so I guess basically, does this create a higher 'evade/miss' chance, or does it improve apon what ever active def mod you have going based off profession?

No, it doesn't do anything for dodge/counter/block. The way it was described by a dev, these foods simply increases the chance that an attack misses you completely. I think of it as a generic "+defense" mod (rather than +ranged defense or +melee defense). It stacks on top of melee/ranged defense buffs, which may be the rationale behind the foods not just giving "+x ranged defense, +x melee defense".

For a huge mind bonus the best thing for a rifleman is 2 doses of brandy and 3 doses of ahrisa. Decent BE versions of both will add +800 mind, +2000 focus, +800 willpower. The special costs for rifleman are almost taken down to nothing. Both of those are for 45ish minutes so you can get a constant buff.

There is also Burnout Sauce for more unarmed dmg.

All the rest of the foods are pretty much defensive so that is up to you. Dodge, dmg reduction, def vs x foods and drinks.

Defense vs knockdown is popular but I think mainly because of the bonus. BE versions are +80 to +110. No other defense food comes close to that in any mod. If there was a defense vs dizzy like that, I'm sure it would sell like crazy. Most of the other defense foods max out around +20-+25.

If you want another take on foods for PvP, this is what I do(I make foods specifically for my swordsman)

If you know you're going into PvP take a SytheSteak immediately. They last an hour so you should be able to digest it before walking into combat. Also take a long lasting brandy as soon as you know you're going into combat.

Once you hit combat fill up on brandy and judge how long it will take. If you going for long combat hit the ahrisa, for a short battle go for the Canap. I like to save 50 filling incase I need to take some Vercupti if my mind is being hit hard. I'd first hit the muon before the Vercupti since the downer will heal faster than 50filling. Other drinks to consider would all depend on your stats for Def vs stuff.

I will preface this by saying that I do not PvP. However, this character, Smerdyakov, is a Master Rifleman/Master Swordsman; it is my alt, Alyosha, who is a Master Chef.

I find that the only things I need are Brandy and Canapes, and I can special continuously without losing any mind...and that is with only taking one dose of Canapes. As someone else mentioned Ahrisa is also a very good option due to its duration. In addition, I carry Blue Milk in case my Canapes wear off in the middle of battle and I don't notice right away.

Other than those, I really don't think you need anything...aside from buffs, that is. Oh, I just noticed you are a TKA too. If you are still leveling up you might want to try some -- help me out here fellow chefs, as I am pretty new at this -- something that starts with an "R" Burnout Sauce. It gives a bonus to unarmed damage. I make it for someone in my PA and they love it.
