I have made novice chef and i tried making some basic stuff and

A> I couldn't experiment either in front of a cham/food crafting station or with my little r5 droid with food craft station attached.

B> I didn't get any xp at all for my creations.

Help this little Bothan back in to the kitchen...

Double check and make sure you are using a food and chemical crafting tool as well and not a general one. Also there is a bug currently that makes it look like you're not getting exp from crafting, but usually relogging fixes the exp bar.

A) It sounds like you may not be using a food/chem tool (it's the one that looks like a red toolbox). Also, there's a bug that's been around for a while where you can be inside the radius of more than one station, and it's a toss-up which one the game thinks you're using. If more than one station is around, get right up next to the food/chem one, and I've had slightly better luck actually targeting it. As for the droid, are you sure it has a food/chem crafting module in it?

B) Make sure you're making Chef items. Food and drinks from Domestic Arts give general crafting xp. At Novice chef, you're limited to Air Cake, alcohol, Almond Kwavuu, Blap Biscuits, and soypro. For grinding purposes, soypro gives the best xp (80), and if you don't use practice mode, you can eat the finished product yourself for another 40 xp, and not fill up your stomach (since it's a component).

Ok update, the xp problem is solved, i was making foods from the artisan branches hence no xp. However the experimentation issue is not resolved i have a droid with 3 food crafting devices in, which is effectively useless, i have tried targetting the regular crafting stations with no droids out whilst making and no experimentation option comes up either.

If you're making a component like soypro (sp )or dough you can't experiment on it because it has no stats. What food where you making ?
