I'm a retired Master Chef, dabbling SL and I just came up with an idea.
The new HAM system is a devilish ploy, plot by the DEVs, to make it easier for them to balance buffs.
This all stems on if the special regen rate is constant (which I don't know). If it's related to the pool regen stat, then my point is mute (and the HAM change is really nothing). So please let me know if I'm wrong (if you figure it out before me)
With this change, the 3 HAM bars for each state have a more defined purpose:
The regen stats define how fast you can take DAMAGE (willpower, stamina, constitution)
Pool drain define how often you can do SPECIALS (strength, focus, the action one)
The primary defines how much stuff you can do, both specials and damage (health, action, mind)
Before:
Damage linked to 2/3 stats
Specials linked to 3/3 stats (harder to balance)
Now:
Damage linked to 2/3 stats (not new)
Specials linked to 2/3 stats (easier to balance buffs)
That means we have clever (or lazy) DEVs.
Or I'm creating conspiracy theories (where did I put my meds)

um, actions usually effect all three kinds of stats for whatever attribute you're talking about
i'm not sure what you're getting at
i think the system works very well
especially the stat migration, very good idea from devs
oh, and its moot* not mute
