Thread: Food Awareness Week :D
Nice idea. I'm not fond of being known as just making Brandy and Canape either. We have so many more useful things to offer.
A wonderful chef on my server (Corbantis), named Aikiave, makes a post almost every day with either "Entree of the day", "Drink of the day", "Dessert of the day", etc. She picks an item and lists what it does, it's ranged atributes, and also lists waypoints to different chefs on our server that carry the item. The posts are bright and colorful and well layed out, she does a really nice job. Often times it's starts out a nice lil' conversation between chefs and chefs and customers about their usefulness and things like that. I believe it's been a great way to educate a lot of people on our server as well as bring business to lesser known chefs I'm sure. Three cheers for Aikiave!! =)
Now you can start making me more aware by answering this question for me.
-Are there any foods/drinks that enhance Strength and Constitution. Up until now I have been using Neutron Pixie to just give me health but I would like to buff these stats instead. Thanks!
Personally, I like putting new foods in 5 crates and 25 crates so that everyone can sample certain foods/drinks that sound interesting ![]()
-Chairman Kaga
I hate doing just brandy & canape - if I did more of them I'd be richer, but money isnt everything. I prefer to make a selection of items, even if some take weeks to sell.
Many of my customers are now asking for Havla, Synthsteak (very big seller), Bivoli, Citros Snowcake etc.
The problem Im having now, is keeping up a supply of additives :/
Making people more aware of what the other foods do is an excellent way to get away from the Brandy profession chef started to turn into.

Garrmorl (as mentioned above) is essentially Brandy for the Strength Pool, and Accarragm is Brandy for the Action pool.
Won-Won are like Kiwik Swirls, but buff Strength and Constitution. They take a light additive rather than medium, so they will bea lower buff than Kiwik swirls. Idon't have any in stock right now (will restock ina week or so, most likely), but you should be able to find it on several chef vendors - check the Bria trade forum to see what people are advertising. Natibu Soul (Corellia, nr Coronet) and Sinison (Sinister Sam, in the Strongbadia Cantina) are 2 chefs making great stuff right now, so give 'em a try if you're in a hurry ![]()
In response to the main topic, I think that, with stomach not emptying on death, there's a large gap in the market for the lower-filling versions of some well-known foods. For instance, Aitha for mind heals (rather than Blue Milk) and Exo-Protein Wafers for damage reduction (rather than Synthsteak). Neither is as effective, but when stomach space is at a premium, they could be life-savers (especially the Aitha).
As for the original poster's question:
First, you're going to want to avoid saying things like "Ahrisha- it outstrips canapes" Because that isn't really true. It's more useful for some things, and less so for others. There's nothing wrong with trying to promote it as a lower-cost longer-duration alternative (especially if your vendor's stocked and the competition's isn't), but when you say "this is better than Canape" you're doing two things:
1) raising customer expectations that this is exactly the same as Canape only better
2) inviting an argument (as opposed to a conversation)
Try saying something like "In many cases this provides the same benefit as Canape for less money" or something like "a sustainable buff that can push the mind cost on specials, even when fully armored, down to nothing". Explain the benefits of the food (low cost, 45+ duration) and let your customers make their own decisions. I'm doing simultaneous business in 33 fill Canape, 39 fill Canape, and Ahrisa, so clearly different people want different things. Don't discount a section of the market because you disagree with their appetites.
How funny blunder...I only came upon this post after searching your name out because I noticed your posts on the Chimera-European board!(loved the PVP post by the way, gonna put a link to you post on Corbantis if you don't mind
) I'm sooo glad you started this on your server...see all the great responses you've gotten???? ILOVE how you RP'd it in the beginning...definitely creative! I had posted to the chef board on several of the "templates" for discussions on certain foods for chefs to post to their servers about food since no one really REALLY knows about food. So I started the FOOD 101 posts on Corbantis...originally cuz I was bored...and also that the list of food was soooooo long even I got tired of trying to analyze it all. So I started doing it day by day...and you know what, to my surprise - it was well received by the community and soooo many stepped up to comment on each and every food. I know it's kinda tedious to cover EVERY food - but in doing that, we had uncovered some diamonds in the rough. (& I've learned a lot too!) Every profession and every player for that matter has their own specific needs. Posting to the board is a good way to collectively have people discuss about each food and to educate why a food is good or why it is bad. This way chefs also know what's in demand and what to make.
Keep up the good work blunder...but I have a feeling...it's gonna become a full-time job. ![]()
And much thanks to ~Ivy~ for the kind words!
