just thought of this...but has anyone considered what nerfing combat professions is going to do to the meat supply???
currently dath carnivore meat is the only real option for getting large quantities of meat in a relatively short amount of time...and thats only cause rancors give a lot of meat...and if you have a decent template...are easy to kill.
post-revamp...ummm if its as bad as a lot of people are predicting it might be...we should ask for alternative methods to acquiring a steady supply of meat.
I read a post on the BE boards by ArthurDentOnBria...he went to the FF...and the info he posted indicated that rangers might be getting static traps soon (i.e. place it...and some time later, there may be creatures in it)...now exactly what these are for, or what they'll do wasn't shared or hinted at...just that it was being worked on.
there is hope that the devs have realized what effect the combat revamp will have on the meat supply...but if not....as the biggest consumer (quantity wise) of meat...well technically its BE's...but its for a subcomponent we use...we should bring this up as a concern, possibly along with rangers/scouts/BE's/docs/armorsmiths (armorsmiths use hide...same as meat).
some types of meat (insect, domestic, avian...for docs) are hard enough as is to get in good quantity now...unless harvesting is adjusted either via scout mods, increased drops...or new harvesting methods, quite a few professions are going to be taking a fairly big hit.

Go to the ranger forums, read the outdoorsman, and try to get that profession some love, they need it. This is my biggest hope for the meat supply, but sadly it will be a long time before anything happens with them

read ArthurDentOnBria's post in the BE forum...from the sounds of it ranger will be getting a lot of really useful stuff, and most importantly no nerfs...the few things I can remember are static traps (catches animals...for what reason...yet to be seen, but if its for a meat harvester...thats some pretty good "love" right there), weapon(s) certs, weapon subcomp schems (stock/scope), etc.
CH/BE are in the same boat...not a lot coming up for them in the immediate future...but no nerfs...what they have now will be what they have post-revamp. problem is what they have now won't be enough to offset the reduced hunting capacity that most people will have as a result of combat professions getting nerfed...even if the ranger population 2x's....I'm personally hoping the static traps are meat harvester related...and if those come in with the combat rebalance...that'd be great...but still, it'd be better if 6 professions voiced the concern rather than just ranger/scout.
other things that may impact meat supply...BH/ranger skill point costs potentially decreasing (and as a side note merchant will likely be getting compacted into a smaller tree, or having skill point costs reduced within the profession).
some of the dev responses listed in the BE post...were interestingly uninformed (ex. devs including "super" chef subcomponents in the group being emphasized for them not wanting to be able to hoard quality subcomps...other members of that group...weaponsmiths...armorsmiths...but why chefs.../extremeSarcasmOn "I really really really want to be able to turn my 1 stack of 10k grind wheat into only 10 crates of 100 count alchohol...cause I don't know when wheat this good will spawn again...or if I'll be able to get this lucky with my alchohol assembly again...and I need to save some space" /sarcasmOff...on the other hand maybe they don't realize we can't experiment on our subcomponents anymore...see next paragraph for why)
the other really interesting one was related to BE's and how the dev in charge of BE's was convinced that no invalid pet could ever be created under the current system (granted that dev is working on JTL right now, and probably has been for quite some time...I'll bet SOE is hoping very few people actually remember how they said that JTL had an entirely seperate team of devs...)

Indeed we're not getting any love till at least after jtl, smugglers, squad leaders and the combat balence. The puts us about december methinks. Not the end of the world - those who were going to quit our proffession have and those who are going to stay are still here.
From our point of view it'll be better if rancors can't be solo'd as it will then take groups to take them down or it might become quicker to hunt things that drop less. Obviously from your pov its not quite as good which is completely understandable.

they need to make ranger more useful, make creature harvesting show a significant increase instead of just a few extra
