Just wondering if any of you that have dropped your merchant skills, but still have vendors, are going to pick merchant back up due to the proposed changes. I've already dropped my merchant skills for other stuff and am debating what I'm going to have to do if this change does happen.

hehe..im contemplating dropping chef too. Last I heard was 50 items per vendor unless you master merchant as well then is 110 items per vendor. As a master mchef/merchant I might as well log on for about 30 min to an hour every day make some food check vendors and then log off cause that is all I will be able to do. If I only get enough merchant to have a vendor 50 items is hardly enough to keep a vendor completely stocked with a variety of chef foods...not to mention where am I going to store all my resources that I have gathered to make the different foods...I really think that it wouldn't be so bad if they would increase the number of items per vendor and then allow master merchants to rent out their vendors and put the renter on the vendor admin with the ability to set that the merchant gets 10% of all sales (or whatever the agreement is) and the rest is deposited into the renter's account. Just my views on things

I never dropped my merchant skills because I felt that would have been an exploit of the system.

I have never had an unsupported vendor either. I expected all along that this "exploit" would be fixed, and I didn't want to get caught with a vendor full of stuff that I had to suddenly get rid of, or possibly even lose...

I'm at Merchant 3/3/4/4 atm, should be Master in a few days. I will definitely keep Master untill the vendor caps are clarified. At that point only can I decide what merchant skills to drop (if any).

In my own defense, I havent' dropped Merchant completely yet; however, I was in the process. I was master last week, and am 0/4/4/0 now. I believe I'm going to be droping this alt and focusing on my fighter character, so I will have a +11 Chef suit for sale soon on Gorath if any Chefs are interested.

I was master merchant last week. Heard about the impending nerf and promptly dropped all but 0-0-0-2 out of spite lol. I must be a lot smaller shop than everyone I see posting here but I really won't be affected much by this nerf. I have 4 vendors (under the rules of the nerf they will all be supported by the appropriate skill level). Two are for my guild and 2 are for public. I only make the very popular foods (ie brandy, canape, thakitillo, bivoli, havla, ahrisa and synthsteak) and stock enough to keep everyone happy. I keep surplus stock in my factories so strorage isn't a huge issue. I will do special orders for folks but that type stuff never goes on the vendor because I prefer the personal touch of delivering something directly to the customer in that instance. Under the proposed rules, I will be allowed 4 vendors each with 80 items at 0-0-0-2. The only vendor of miine that even comes close to 80 items ever is my singles vendor.

Maybe I'm just a smaller shop...and I do agree that the limitation is way too small for you big timers...I just wanted to voice my situation.

Thanks,

I am glad this nerf is coming and I don't think they should raise the numbers like they say they are gonna.

I don't get it? Is it spite at folks that have multiple fully stocked vendors? Or, just that you like the fact that they are getting rid of empty vendors?

I personally like everything except the 110 item limit-that to me is killer. I stock each vendor (3 locations and a loot vendor, and a resource vendor) with full runs of 6 base products and half runs of 6 others. I have over 500 crates at a time on these vendors. It won't be worth the time it takes to continually stock each vendor twice a day if they cap vendors at 110 items.

I have kept merchant throughout with expecations of this coming, but my current merchant level is 3004. I will master if I have to, but it looks like at the moment that I will only get 10 extra items per vendor, which isn't worth it to me. Ifwe were given even 100 extra items per vendor I'd be more optimistic about this fix, but personally I think that SOE is saving pennies on database hardware by limiting inventory in a new way...again. I don't think that limiting how many items we can sell at a time is a good idea at all.

i didn't even know that was possible o well, im 4444 merchant (damn AP) and i dont paln on dropping it. I only run one location, and i have 4 vendors for different types of food, patch will not effect me in the least. I will be extremyl happy to see those huge clods of vendors on the planetary map slowly disappear

It will depend on the limits for me. At the current limits I either will stop making food or cut down on the number of foods.

I don't have the skills for merchant and I don't really care as it would take a whole 6 points for me to go up to the current skills(Novice merchant to get my 2 vendors that I have). 95% of all merchants used NPC vendors at the start of the game because they were bugged and only cost 1c/hour maintenance. That could easily be considered an exploit as well. One exploit is no worse than another exploit.

I was about to drop merchant and pick up BE so I can experiment easily with different types of additives, but alas, the merchant changes, so nope, not going to drop any merchant now.
