Thread: Chef and FS are you going to do it?

I see the exp needed to get the FS crafting tree completed and its mind boggling. I just finished my build master BE/Chef with merchant 0-0-0-3 and scout 2-0-4-0(I lowered the merc for mask sent to help with DNA sampling), and I think would have to drop something to work on the FS trees. I was just thinking with my now 3 shop locations and 6 total vendors I could use all that wasted merchant exp and my chef schematic/single item exp to work on FS without having to grind. I really don’t care about being a jedi, I’m very happy selling my food and trying to help my guild. I also have a few questions:

1.FS skills take your normal skill points?

2.Other than increasing you chance at an amazing success, and reducing critical failures what would it do for a chef?

I’m thinking I’ll keep making my tasty treats and bow out of the FS grind (and I was so close with my now 3 badges), I’m thinking that someday in the near future the FS crafting will give experimentation points, maybe I’ll think about it at that time.

What are your ideas about the FS crafting tree, and you going to start that grind?

Thanks for taking a look,
Crazyana

99% sure I will not go FS on my crafter. If I do though, I'm 100% sure I will not do any of the crafting lines unless the exp reqs are changed drastically. It would be easier for me to grind up a combat prof or 2 and grind exp that way. The only bonus I can see is the extra char slot. I will be going Jedi on my other toon though.

I wasn't getting a jedi in the old system mainly because of the crafting. I can't stand grinding anymore crafting professions, and grinding chef 33 times doesn't sound like fun either.

To answer questions...

1) Yes, FS boxes take 1SP each, same SP that you use for normal skills, so you will have to give up 8 points, assuming that as a crafter you will be grtting Experimentation and Technique (Still have no idea what an Amazing success on assembly does - I've never seen any benefit at all)

2) That's all it would do.

I am also a Chef/BE (with Nov Merchant and full Artistan Survey Line) and don't see how I would do anything else as I have no combat skills at all.

FS skills that pertain directly to Chef: I've previoulsy explained why I don't think FS crafting is particularly useful to Chefs. Basically only one line (Force experimentation) is of any use at all to Chefs, and then only as a small time saver. It hardly makes sense to spend 25+ hours running theme parks and grinding Thakitillos in the name of saving time.

Anyone who has the time (and I realize a great many don't) would see a pretty big benefit just from unlocking a second character slot, even if niether char pursues Jedi. If you've got to grind up 6 FS lines anyway, taking the (relatively small) extra bit of time to grab the Force Experiment line instead of an easier-to-grind combat line is probably worth the effort.

Now, my personal situation: My char needs to pick up FS skills (non-Chef) regardless, so I'll probably go ahead and pick up the Force Experimentation tree because I'm going to be doing so much of the work anyway, that's it's not really that big a deal to grind Master Artisan (ten minutes, max) and make a thousand landspeeders (couple hours' annoyance).

nope but you'd get alot more amazing success when you experiment.

I'm going to go force crafting but I'm not grinding. If it takes me 20 years then thats how long it takes me

Ok guys im not being funny right but FS chef is crap lol

Im currently in a business with 2 other chefs on my server and we have a faily big enterprise.

After i did all the Fs stuff to get into the village, i had 5 bars given to me so i decided to put 2 of these on assembly and experimentation, as i thought it would have been a good idea.

Now then... i got to try out my new skills.

Go to a research center on my server, take crafting food.

I managed to get all amzing success's on the ahrisa we were crafting.

Here is my result:
