Hello all! I have just started into the Chef line with my arcitect/mule. I was thinking about going arc/weaponsmith and enough chef to make brandy and the 4th level of making food. (Im at work and cant remember the name of that tier)
But, I was wondering if I will still be able to make good brandy like this, or if it will be only so-so. My main toon is a smuggler, and I was told that as master smuggler I will get better slices on weapons and such then if I just stay a slicer. So, I was wondering if its the same with Chef.
I want to be able to make good brandy, but I cant get master chef with my current template Im thinking of. Any help would be awesome all, thanks!!

Hey bud! Welcome to Chef!
As I see it, you might be able to make some decent brandy, but only if you can make it ALL the way up the Cooking tree to Cooking IV. Chef food is not easy to make....but if your ONLY concern is making brandy, and you dont have enough points to master Chef, then the least you should do is Chef 0-0-3-4. That will get you the Brandy Schematic, and 9 points to experiment with.
This is probably your best option if you want to make the best brandy possible without Mastering. But it doesnt stop there. In order to make decent brandy you need good-great resources, a good Food Station, work out of a research center if possible (You will want to do that as a MWS or MA regardless), and have lots of patience.
Your average everyday Chef with 10 Exp points and good resources should be able to hit +400 Brandy at 40minutes no problem at all. But you wont have 10 points....you will only have 9. And that is IF you can get all the way up to Cooking IV. So you will have to make up for it by having really nice resources, and decent additives from a BE.
If I were you, I would start looking for stacks of berries and fruit with the highest PE/OQ/FL you can find. You also need to find a BE to make you some additives to put in your brandy....without which your brandy will never be anything other than sub-par. Expect to pay 30-50k per crate of additives, and each crate will make ONE crate of Brandy (1 to 1 ration). You will also probably want to find a tailor and buy some trim off of them to make casks to put it in. If you dont want to do that, you can always use large glasses instead, but the quantity will be about half of a cask.
What you want to do is definitely possible, and it will be a lot of fun if you can not worry about making uber-brandy and just have fun with it. I would just play around with it some....see if you like it.
If you run into any snags, check out the Chef FAQ up in the sticky section. Lots of good info in there. If you cant find your answer there, try posting here. We are a pretty helpful bunch as long as you dont ask questions that are already covered in the FAQ and a thousand other places.
Regards, and good luck,

Brandy comes at Chef 0030.
If your 0030 your brandy will be crap since you only have2 experimentation points.
Experimentation points come with the Cooking line, thats the 4th.
at 0034 you can make Brandy and have 9 experimentation points.
Brandy with that will be worse than that of a Master Chef (they have 10 points) and even worse than that of 12 point chefs, but if priced accordingly it will sell, since its decent. Just don't expect to get the same as others. Just remember to use good resources.

Great, thanks you two! Hmmm, I may go master Chef for a while, try to get a really good schem for some great brandy, then pump out a ton in a fac so I have back up brandy!
But seriously, thanks for the help. I cant really decide what I want do yet after I get master arcitect. But, if I remember right, if I go master arcitect and master weaponsmith I would be able to go 0-0-3-4 in chef. Hmm, it will take some thinking, but thanks again!
