I realise that sciguy and others are under a NDA and really cannot talk about what is going on. However rumors are rampant and I feel we need to talk a little about this because if we don't we might get left behind especially since we got no food/drink for JtL
What many seem to be thinking is that the specials of the combat professions will move to use a special new pool similar to the Jedi Force pool.
For chef's this would be disasterous. It would mean the elimination of up to 90% of our business which are stat buffing foods to help folks using their specials ( the rest of our bus being to those that use ormachek or the accuracy/dodge foods ...which could be eliminated in usefulness as well. ).
I hope sciguy and others realise what the impact will be on us. Because if this happens I don't see many chefs making it til the crafter thingy after the combat thingy...who can survive without any business?

From what i've heard that special bar might be true but again its under influence of the HAM bars i think. See things this way (speculation here) there will be lots of things getting nerfed, one of the things are doc buffs, but from what i´ve heard (let's hope its true) foods will stay the same. Now imagine things the other way...business increasing cos all the ppl will be getting foods to improve the HAM
Again, this is pure speculation, rumours.

I have the feeling that our foods will become the new standard to buff the HAMs. Doc Buffs will be lowered but foods will be alright.

from what the devs have stated in public posts a while back (so it doesn't violate the nda for anyone to be talking about it)...is that the new "special" pools would still be affected by both of the secondary stats in the same way (tho maybe with a higher requirement for no ham costs). the special cost reducing stats would no longer have an effect on the ham pools since those wouldn't be damaged by specials anyway...so no loss there.
doc buffs...well from a little comment one of the devs made in a post in the doc forums many months ago...it seems like they're going with a % based buff instead of a set power...i.e. if you have 300 health and a doc has a 200% pack...you only get a 600 health buff for a total of 900 health. this would have the effect of making accaragm and garmorrl much more desirable...so hopefully they finally get around to fixing the stat problems on garmorrl.
from before the chef revamp was begun the devs told us that our foods were designed with the combat rebalance in mind...so if anything gets seriously nerfed or removed...well there had better be something....no wait...there had better be A LOT of somethings that get added to compensate.
in short BE/chef/CH/DE all 4 professions are essentially immune to any/all major changes from the combat rebalence since we've all been nerfed/revamped with the rebalance in mind already...everyone else is pretty much going to be in for a rough ride.
tailors shouldn't see any kind of nerf...but with the devs wanting clothing to be a viable option compared with armor....there could be quite a considerable change to everything tailor related (hopefully in a good way and not in a "lets break everything....again" way).
and since I'm not in the sandbox, not a correspondent, etc. all this info came from reading the dev tracker every day, and somehow remembering all this stuff...I think the best sciguyCo or anyone in the sandbox could say is that "yes the devs said that at one point"...since they can still comment on anything the devs state in a public forum.
the devs also stated that JTL would be a "twitch" based game...i.e. no buffs of any sort...everything is based on your "skill" with a joystick (I seriously doubt anyone is actually playing jtl with a mouse/keyboard). the only kind of buff I could see them putting in for space would be a "drunken piloting" drink...where you accel/decel randomly and change directions randomly too...but short of that kind of comedic style of buffs...there will likely never be any kind of food/drink/buffs for JTL.
a lot of it could have changed...but I think the basics are the same. (as for the changes to the combat profs...well no one has a clue other than things are going to change for everyone).

I like the Drunken Pilot idea ...hehe but I doubt they'd give us that...they won't give us back the wedding cake
Okay so if the secondary stats still affect the special pool might not be as bad as I thought
( also keep in mind that when you say that they were made with the combat balance in mind...that noone was actually working on the combat balance...as per recent admissions...therefore you can't assume things won't change for us, or any of the others that have been revamped already ...except maybe IDs

Just to clarify, actualcoding work may not have been getting done with the Combat Upgrade, but design work definitely was. The problem was that as they started looking at what needed to be changed, things kept snowballing, so it went from "Combat Balance" (just tweaking numbers like weapon min/max speed, special dmg/speed multipliers), to "Combat Revamp" (CB + armor/buff overhaul) to "Combat Upgrade" (CB + CR + profession roles + **CENSORED*** + **YOU ARE UNAUTHORIZED TO READ THIS** + **HEY, THERE'S AN NDA INVOLVED YOU KNOW**).
Sataki: QFE = Quoted For Emphasis (basically reposting a previous person's writing to get it more attention)
Or when used during rant posts about devs: Quick, Fire Everyone!

Basically to bring attention to something you would of said to make it clearer.

I know this is an older post but I only read the chef forums about once every couple weeks...sorry if i am bringing up an old subject. But here is my thought on how chefs are going to be effected with the combat revamp.
I think the days of everyone poping two brandies will no longer be the norm. Since this new specials bar will be in effect I see the drinks that increase your defenses to states becoming more important. Drinks like Elaschandu Thundercloud (spelling?) with a ranged defense mod of +20ish will be big, so will the ones that defend against intimidation, stun and dizzy. I have made these drinks in the past and they never sold well, mainly because players didn't have enough room in after two brandies. I have tested elaschandu thundercloud a few times with a +23 defense vs. ranged attacks and saw head hits from a t21 go from 180-200ish per shot to 90-100ish when taking the drink. Now, throw in a synthsteak in there and we are talking, what...headshots doing 50-70 damage??? That is nice if you ask me. The filing on this drink is in the teens also, so I see people using one brandy and two to three defense drinks on top of that. If that isn't good for business I don't know what is.

will non-BE food come back? To me it seems meat collecting unlike now will be much harder. Meat prices will sky rocket and thus non BE food will be made more?
sorry if this has been said before
Ora
The only way non-BE food would make a comback is if there was some benefit to using it.
