Thread: New chef: is Tatooine the wrong planet to start on?

Hello all:

I'm a new chef on Sunrunner/Tatooine. I'm one of those types that will only use the best resources so I've been carefully sampling all the local cereals to find the best one before I start digging. Although there are some decent cereals around Mos Espa the concentrations are all too low to support reasonable sampling.

I'm barking up the wrong tree? Is Tatooine a bad place for high quality organic resources in good concentrations?

I spent all morning wandering and sampling, comparing stats, entering them at swgcenter.com to help out the community... never found one resource worth digging up due to low concentrations.

Any assistance/advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Resources change. Sometimes you get excellent ones in high % areas, othertimes you get rubbish ones, and all planets get the same kind of rotation.

Tatooine is usually a decent place to start IMO.

As said above the resources change. Right now on Chilastra there is some fantastic +900 overall quality reactive gas on Corellia and some really crappy reactive gas on Naboo. Next week it could be switched and Naboo has the good stuff or they could both get poor quality reactive gas or none at all.

It is a great planet to start on IMO because you can go into any cantina/tavern and there will be lots of dancers and cutsomers. Just hand out free samples of Wastril bread, and then you get UXP for them eating it. It's pretty much win-win. At the lower levels of chef though, your experimentation is so bad, you shouldn't worry about whether or not you have high quality resources.

Yeah I think any populated planet is a good place to start.

And its nice to see you taking pride in what you are doing, and comparing ingredients. I also do the same thing, I even destroy items I don't think are worth anything or I feel are not up to my standards.

I walked into the cantina yesterday and some guy (not chef or homemaker) was behind the bar selling drinks, no biggy. Then I heard his prices, which I thought were totally outragoues, and I told him so.

Then he private messages me asking me what I have in my inventory, I oblige and tell him, then he asks to buy all of my product so he can jack up the prices and continue ripping people off. Needless to say a verbal arguement broke out. He obviously didnt care about the product and only cared about the money, and frankly I find that sad, because what if a customer feels ripped off by him when they see that none of his food or drink was experimented on. Inferior product for premium prices. That reflects badly on all of us.

And I have found like 10 more people on the bazaar renaming spiced tea to "Dark jedi juice" or "Essence of Force" and charging 3000 creds for it. I don't understand why people don't take pride in what they do, it would make the economy much more stable.

Hang In There Rob! I am a bartender/Chef on Tatooine and I play on the Scylla Server. The resources constantly fluctuate so there is no guarantee on what or where to mine for goods. But most of the best patches are normally away from town in the sticks. Adventure a bit and you should be ok. Cross class with scout and get your survival to 4 and build a campsite before you mine for resources that way you can repel a lot of critters from your location
