Lots of talk about the best items to grind with after the Novice Chef milestone, but what to create before that? I've got plenty of Crispic and Air Cake (I'm working on Domestics III). Does it matter? Are other General Crafting items worth it (in terms of xp vs cost of resources)?

i ground out travel packs and gave em away, something like 140 xp per pack. but then again i had all my resources handed to me as well.

Before I became chef, I was grinding out food and only food, I only made some bone armor once for a friend, but after I hit domestic 2 I made only food, its a tough way to go though since the XP on food is low so you may want to try something else.

I did weapons powerups, but now they're nerfed, so it'd take you twice as long o_o

this isn't baking skill in EQ.

Lol, actually I was beginning to reminisce about the grind to GM Chef in UO ...

I was making a lot of Crispic because I the most resource I had were meats (bought inexpensively at the Bazaar). Didn't think about making surveying equipment, might be able to sell a few of those.

Thanks for the ideas!

Maerie, as you can see from the other posts, there isn't one exact recipe to how to complete the 19200 craft xpto qualify forNovice Chef. A lot of what you make will depend on how your character is developed. Are you a scout as well? Have you picked up survey four? Are you a medic?

For myself, I'm currently making Ruby Bliel drinks. I am a doctor and the resources that these drinks require are readily supplied by my medical harvester/resource infrastructure. I get plenty of water, minerals, and organics for use in medicines so I have a very large stockpile of good quality resources as well as a galactic ton of junk that's perfect for grinding. Additionally, Ruby Bliel doesn't have any detrimental side effects and I can get people to drink them for UXP without too much effort. I also make Cripic's if I have a supply of junk meat - I hand off the results to my CH pals to use as pet food.

If you have scout skills, you may want to make some of the meat/hide dishes as they will yield more xp per an attempt (they use more resources). Backpacks are good if you have a steady stupply of hide. New players are ALWAYS looking for survey tools and crafting kits if you have a few levels in engineering tinkering. All you need for those are metals and chemical, two rather straight forward resources. I'm not sure how well UXP works for general crafting items, but useful items can help you generate even more xp after you've sold the items.

There are a lot of choices on what to make. Spend a little time looking up the schematics and see which ones fit your existing character setup.

Being a scout/chef I've been doing the ruby b. grind for the most part. Throw in a few Cav's here and there (as I like the fact they give an increased regen to action/mind - if memory serves)

And if and when I want to be a bit more creative I throw in some meat dishes.

Also, since I'm a scout I get xp for every camp I craft, and all the traps I create.

I was originally going to sample a LOT of minerals and then just grind away at it... but instead I've decided to work up my scout skills and craft as I do... instead of grinding, just playing my character..... once I get a lot closer to Novice Chef I might grind... but if you want to enjoy the game I would encourage you NOT to sit for hours and grind away making crap you don't want/can't use... this isn't baking skill in EQ.

ps... so do we in fact get XP for consumed items??? I haven't really watched for this much.
