Could someone please explain the ins and outs of crates? I see a few chefs talking about factory crates, are these the outputs of items from a food factory? Also, do these crates take up less room in inventory and such? Thank you!

I don't have one on me to make sure, but if I remember right, a factory crate takes up 5 inventory space regardless, and will hold up to 25 items. You can't put things in them, you can only remove.

I do stimpack runs in my factory sometimes for this reason. I can carry 25 stimpacks and only take up 5 inventory space because they're all in a crate.

Also handy for selling on a vendor, because buying 1 crate is a whole lot less work than buying 25 stimpacks.

Unfortunately for chefs right now, food produced in a factory is bugged, so you make a schematic that says it produces a stack of 5, it will actually only produce single items that won't stack. But it will still use up all your resources.

factory crates are still useful for making components though, and for some higher level recipes are necessary. But yes, they are bugged
