Thread: Experimentation is the way out of some problems

It seems we all agree that a Master Artisan makes better food than a Novice Chef right now.

Let's assume that the recipes are actually designed correctly.

So what is happening in my opinion is that experimentation points are not handled as they could be.

I have 11 experimentation points at Master Artisan.

Lets look what happens if these carry over into the elite profession, I would then have 12 points at Novice Chef, which would be enough to make the Novice Recipes better than DomArts IV I think.

Also I should be able to use the new Experimentation point in Domestic Arts too, so that a Chef will be able to make better Bofa Treats than a Master Artisan should he want to.

I also think that this will work in the other elite crafter professions too and solve the Elite schematics worse than base profession problem.

While it might be a bit of a coding effort, it has the potential to solve a lot of problems and I assume that it was even intended to be so at the very start. I come to this conclusion after being unable to fully experiment some DomArts stuff to its full potential with those 11 points.

I am not sure if the effect will be unbalancing, but it is logically consistent.

By this line of thought, once I reach Novice Chef, I do expect all of my food crafting, including Dom Arts to give me food crafting experience, Or if I go Novice Tailor, my clothing to yield Tailoring Exp. I seem to remember that it has been that way in beta, can someone that made Tailor or Chef in Beta confirm ?

Please play a bit with this idea, if there are any unbalances in this thinking I am sure we can iron them out, easier than finding 1000 units of fresh Bantha Milk.

I think it would be a mistake to carry over your points from the MA tree. You'd end up with 20 experiment points and it would take away some of the diversity and hard choices you have to make as a crafter. Why not just grant an extra +10 food crafting and +20 exp at the start of the profession? Then tone down a couple of the MA recipies just a smidge and that should solve the issue pretty well, I would think.
