waaaaah! Now I have to depend on BOH?

Acording ot that chef guide site up top there's nfo more rsychate... and the BOH sucks on his even tho in the friday feature thy were talking about it being 1400 base.

What's the truth on boh? And is ryschate really gone with no food-substitute?

I must admit i never was a food user pre-publish.

However, I did a little digging, and found that ryschate buffed strength, quickness, and focus, right?

Well, there's food in entrees III that buffs each one individually, lasting 30-60 minutes, and unless the filling experimenting is quite poor, it's possible to take all three.

The desserts line also features foods that will buff specific 'color' of secondary stats. For example, one buffs focus and willpower, and there's ones for the other two.

Personally, unbuffed I have more trouble keeping my health pool up (damnable gaffi stick) so I'll take food that boosts my secondary health stats, and drink some vasarian brandy for my mind.

Hope this goes toward answering your question, like i say, i was never a big food user pre-publish

Well the duration is nice on those but what a pain to have to carry 3 separate crates =P. So I can take all 3 at 1 time? That would be a reasonable tradeoff. huge duration increase for exchange in carrying 3 crates...

But I remember in the Friday Feature where they talked about BOH they were saying it was like 1400 to each stat easy without additives.

Has anyone made it ? The revamp listings shows it as barely 600 at the top end. That would be off.

correct me if i'm wrong, and I often am, but all the listings on

http://home.comcast.net/~sciguyco/swg/FoodChart.htm

are without Bio Engineer additives, so there is significant room for improvement unless I miss my mark.

Anyhow, I'm new to this whole scene, and likely not the right man for the informing job.

Exactly right. To figure out the absolute max a food can have, take the top end of the food's range (I think I've got them all pretty accurate now) and take the top end of the additive's range (down at the bottom) to see what you can get.

The BoH in the Friday feature showed this:

+500 Strength/Quickness/Focus for 10m, filling 60 (iffy) yield 3 (lie).

The +1200 they mention is with an "Intelligent Nanonutrient" additive, the heavy nutrition tissue. Although that'd be a +140% tissue, which is beyond the rangeposted by a BE here a while ago (he/she gave +90-120% for that tissue).

There are a couple options to replace ryshcate, although it will require multiple foods:

Gruuvan Shal/Scrimpi/Ahrisa: eating these three entrees will give you an average +200 to str/quick/focus for 45m. It's pretty easy to get these to 33 filling, so you can eat one of each.

Won-won/Kiwik Swirl/Vagnerian Canap: eating these three desserts will give you an average +300 to str/con, quick/stam, andfocus/will for about 10m. It is harder to get these to 33 filling (requires about 4-5 experimentation points and good resources, but it can be done), so the buff size and/or duration might suffer. The lower duration (although it's still longer than Ryshcate, IIRC) is balanced by the larger buff size, and you get buffed in the three regen stats (so these are like eating an old Ryschcate and Veghash).

You can also look into what can be done with additives. The three entrees can take medium additives, so you can get either 80% increase to buff size (+360), 40% increase to duration (14m), or 18% decrease in filling (possibly getting them below 25 allowing either a different food or a 4th boost to one of str/quick/focus). The desserts are at different skill levels, Won-won can take a light, Kiwik a medium, and the Canape a heavy.

Ah well that's promising. So if my math is correct, the average best (not BOTB but average best) breath of heavan I could hope for with say a 90% heavy nutrition additive would be ~

950 mind/focus/willpower (500 base *1.9 for additive?)

filling maybe experimented down to 50ish?

and with cask 6-12 uses?

Now, one thing about this, when I noticed one chef's BOH was much better than a collegue of his he said something about substituting the alcohol for a higher level/higher resource item. Am I misunderstanding or is/was that possible?

I would like to say that even with BE Tisses, Gruuvan Shaal, Ahrisa, and Srimpi are not a good replacement for Ryshcate. Heres why:

Ryshcate made by my chef prior to patch:
380-392 @ 7m30s-9m * 12 uses - 34 filling. Read duration as 50-75% of stomach decay. This means that it was possible to stay at close to 800 str/foc/qui for hours. Just one bit ever 4 minutes was enough. As a master TKM+, I wouldn't _need_ buffs.

Gruuvan and others:
@360 @ 40m * 6 uses - 33 filling. Duration is now around stomach decay, a plus. But it means it cannnot be stacked. Half the buff. And now 6 inventory spaces instead of 2 (3 crates, 3 foods vs 1 crate, 1 food).

Does anyone have any OTHER ideas for a replacement for Ryshcate?

Here's to hoping that we'll be able to get that by adding the "research data" found from the Geonosian cave, when it goes live.

Post patch I have made some BoH with Heavy Additives. It was around +1k to each focus, with at 8ish min duration. The filling was too high if I recall, but overall for the resources its just not worth making imho.

I guess I'm wondering why the specifc requirement for BoH? What combo of abilities necessitates the buff to all 3 focuses?

It may be possible you only need Brandy and Accargm (sp?), or Brandy and Garramorl. Can't think of why you would ever need all 3 without at least one being negligible.

Tell us what you are trying to do, not what you want to buff, and wemight havebetter suggestions.

Cyene, I might be able to answer for him. I saw the signature. Pikeman weapons are legendary. It is a close race as to which profession is better at suicide, the pike or the carbine. (personally, I think the Pike) My guess is that he still has an older set of weapons, or he's using too many specials on the LVA. The LVA will hit all 3 for it's use at insane levels. (I believe my LVA costs are in the neighborhood of 80/100/40 - I'd have to look it up). As such, Ryschate, at the least, and Breath of Heaven or Sunburn, are a typical combination for a pikeman.

As for suggestions... I have a strong mind, so don't usually have an issue. I choose to keep myself stocked with Garrmorl and Kiwik Csujo Swirl. My particular weakness, however, is health. For a general solution, I would suggest a combination of Nutrition Enhanced Vasarian Brandy, Kiwik Swirl and Won-Won - make sure that the latter are enhanced for filling or flavor, however, if you plan to keep a consistent buff.

Good luck with it,

Guess you've never played as a TKA?

Even with two Ryschate, and one BoH (pre patch) I was still burning mind.. although not much.. I was nearly costless on my specials.. and this is exactly why this food was ner.. err I mean revamped.

I burn all 3 pools when armored, VibroKnucklers, and hitting specials. So yeah I need to have all 3 as high as possible.. Doc buffs take care of H/A when you can find one and when you're planning on playing for a while. But food was good for when I get jumped or when I didn't want to waste doc buffs or if I couldn't find a doc.

So now this combo was "revamped" there's nothing that boost the secondarys that high anymore. Unless there's some food I haven't looked into yet.. Glad I still have a crate of pre-ner.. err I mean pre-vamped Ryschate, though it won't last long.

What I need is a combo that make my specials cost next to nothing.. and sadly this doesn't exist anymore. Unless you know some combo that gives me 1200 to all secondaries AND is doable again in less then 45 minutes.. (or lasts 45 minutes)..

OK back to lurking..

Try the melee classes. I spam specials because that is the best way to do the most damage. I have my stats migrated so my focuses are about 600, and with almost all the melee classes (and also with carbine) the ham costs hit all 3 bars really hard if you try to spam that fast. I get speed slices and speed powerups for my weapons because % for % speed is a much better increase in DPS than dmg until you start hitting the cap.

The goal is to get your focuses to 1500+ its around there (a little higher than 1500 but close enough) that your ham costs disapear completely. While most of the melee weapons hit health and action harder, they have a high enough mind cost and add that to healing yourself from getting hit that you need to get that ham cost eliminated too (that was actually teh most important one, and the brandy really helps in this regard as a substitute).

There's no such thing as using too many specials =). It is the most efficient way to go assuming you can handle your ham costs somehow. I used to be able to pop 1 BOH, and 2 ryschate for 10-20 minutes straight (using up a total of 2 boh's back to back, and 4 ryschate back to back). After that I could move directly to the cheaper route of tat sunburn and muon gold and 1 ryschate.

This gives you around 30 minutes of no ham cost (at the end action costs but your stam is super high). It makse for some impressive carnage too and not just for pikeman but for all the melee classes. Although heavy sword and fencer can get away with just tat sunburn and a ryschate. TKA is really the only one that requires all 3 focuses to be boosted for top performance.

But even as a rifleman I find myself wishing i could pop more food. I have to have the brandy in my stomach, but that does not help my warcry and intimidate costs (intimidate being necessary for me to hit anything at my low level, and warcry just saving me from getting chewed up). Warcry without buffed STR is 175 cost, about 120 to health and the rest to action. Intimidate is 100ish mostly a health cost. Rifles are huge mind cost.

So after all that rambling I hope I answered your question. There is still a good reason to hit all 3 focuses, and since carbine is my next profession I really want to have a solution that doesn't include depending on a master doc being around all the time.
