Here's something from TH's roundtable thread (week ending 5-3-04) that you may find interesting:
So no great news (like "it's fixed in publish 8 going live tomorrow"), but at least it's not being ignored.

Please be patient. Its not just a matter of allowing Wookiees to wear the apron, the apron has to be created as a new art asset because Wookiees have a different skeleton than other playable races. This is something you can expect in an upcoming publish.

well theres 500k down the toilet. THANX DEVS FOR PUTTING IN THE PATCH NOTES THAT WOOKIES CANT WEAR THEM SO DONT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON THEM!!!!!!!

I think wookiees look adorable in them though. like those "kiss the chef" aprons on lil cuddly teddy bears! *runs off before Di-Kiem smacks her down*

yeah but...wookies don't wear clothes in the traditional sense that most humanoid races do? I think a wookie in an apron would be just as bad as hearing a wookie speak basic, hehe maybe let them wear an "invisible apron" that gives them the same bonus?

I think wookies should only be allowed to wear crafting aprons if they shave off all their hair. I think a hairless wookie would look something like this http://www.prophecysphynx.com/. Image designers can do that, can't they?

What is so upsetting about this is...
Awookie can wear a normal chef's apron that is crafted by a tailor with no special schem's or loot drops. The regular thing, but try to put on the crafting apron version and low and behold I can't squeez my butt into it.
So if we can wear the regular aprons, do you think they meant for us to wear them but wrote in the wrong code?
I being somewhat a common sense based person, bought a normal apron for 1500 and tested the waters. I was very upset to learn that the crafter's aprons were viewed differently. Why couldn't it have been the other way around.
Why do they hate wookies so much? I thought, cool...wookies...more HAM. Next thing you know they come out with buffs and uber comp armor and now there are zabraks runnin around everywhere in thier little comp armor kicken my butt. Ok, maybe PvP life isnt for me so I try my hand at what I was meant to be, a CH. That got nerfed also, what do you mean I can't have 2 rancors?? I remeamber the days where a guy would come to factional war with a couple Rancors and clean the town. Ok fine, so I do BE along with it and try to make my own uber pets. Generation after generation, growing more powerfull then ever seen...oh yeah finally I catch a break. **edit** another nerf why is my 12K HAMlvl 10 durni only have 1k HAMnow OMG!?! So I decide that SOE just has it out for me being involved in the war...maybe wookies are meant to just sit thee and look cute. So I take up my hand in chef, and now I can't have the bonuses once again that others enjoy.
Does SOE seriously have somthing against Wookies, will the descrimination ever end? What does this message send to the young ones that play? Oh little johnny you can't be any of those professions cause you are a wookie and if you do that then you will never be as good as me cause I am a human and I am better then you.
Its all about you hairless freaks tryin to keep the Wookie down. I think its jealousy of our large hands and feet.

Wookiees will never get lovin my friend. We are a dying species,they try to appease us with plywood overcoats and issues like this still remain (though i have to admit i got a good set of 40% stun hunting armor) I remember posts back in february about this issue and what has happened - NOTHING. SOE = WOOKIEE DISGRIMINATORS I'm gonna call Johnny Cochran.

Wookies players need to stop being treated like 2nd class customers in this game. Let us turn in the aprons to an NPC for one that works...PLEASE.

Ewwww, there's a Wookiee hair in my Parwan cake!!!!
Wookiee's dont' need an apron, they need a full body hairnet with +5 food assembly and +5 food experimentation and a couple sockets.
