Thread: Chef: Is it a Fun/Good money making proffesion?
Is it hards and only thing you can do when you log
What resource are needed in making, list all of them like meat berries....
Is it a good money maker?
Money to me is just a nice result from all the fun. I do make good money though, much more then I'd say a tailor or architech would. lol.... (I have no clue how tailors survive lol)
Then another thing I love doing is taking different dishes and decorating rooms. I like to do kitchens, dining rooms, display rooms... it's quite fun as well. One of my favorite special orders was actually from someone who was catering a party. They wanted RL names on food (stats didn't matter) and wanted discression (sp?) on what foods to make to have these names best fitting. So it's fun in that sense as well.
If you're in crafting for money, then yes, chef is for you.
If you also want to enjoy your crafting profession, ask your self if you think you'd have fun with it.
But its not easy i wouldn't say, keeping track of resources and factory management being my 2 biggest headaches, but i do find time to hunt and other stuff.

I thought Chef had more income than a crafting Doctor? Was there a census on this?.. If not I'm becoming a crafting doctor, cause I know some chefs pulling some mad cash in..
I would say Doctor is eaiser and more profitable. A friend only makes buffs and I estimate he makes about twice what I make. He also needs less skill points and the skill points he is using are useful in other ways other than crafting. Until they put pies into the game a chef will never be a big part of a combat group. A doc on the other hand is a very nice addition. I don't care about that aspect since I've got 2 toons, but others might.
The only difficulty in Doc is the resources. I would put this as the same thing in chef though. A starter doc might make 800-830 packs while a master makes 900+. A starter chef might make 350-375 brandy while a master may make 400-425. The resources are easier to get as a chef, but that doesn't mean its easier to break into the market.

Chefs make easier money than crafting docs. not more.
It will take you 3-6 months to get all the resources you need to craft buff packs and then sell them, and then you have to establish yourself as one of the top crafters, which will take 12 points. 12 points on a dr's outfil could be the better part of 50 million credits. 2-3mil per points on anything over +2 typically.
Established crafting dr's make alot more money than chefs, the hard part is establishing yourself.
Chef crafters can take their 10 point brandy that is +409/41.5m/18u/50f to dathomore, spam out in spatial and make 150-200k per crate because people dont wanna search for foods, and you can establish yourself that way.
Selling that same brandy on a vendor will make you 80-120k per crate
all depends on how you sell/where you sell

Starter docs make 700-800 packs, at the most. to make an 850 pack you need DANG good sub resources and ok ordecent avian and reactive gas. to make 900+ you need TOP of the line avian and reactive gas with TOP of the line sub resources.... heres what it cost to make 1 set of buff packs as a crafting dr just starting out, if you want to make top of the line packs.
