Thread: Marketing your product

Some people have contacted me regarding how do I market my products and my vendor so I thought I would just post it here .

Easiest way I found besides word of mouth was to put singles up at busy ports like Dant and Dath on the bazaar for 1k more than I charge on my vendor. Once someone would buy a product I sent a thank you mail with the WP of my vendor and that they can get the items cheaper there. Also added in if there were any special requests to please send me an email. Even If I couldn't make the product due to missing a resource I would make sure to respond. If that person could get me the resource they would get a free crate and a discount for future sales. Yes its time consuming but it was worth the work.

Hope this helps.

Customer service and the biggie .... [wait for it] .... follow up.

Since we're dealing with people, RL rules apply for the most part. Although we're dealing with "younger people" and a gaming environment, how we serve them is different, but service and follow up are mandatory. I spend mucho credits during my shopping sprees and I'd gladly dump it all on any vendor that took the time to notice me and attempt to work with me. Good job!

Nice post. I wish I could place prices 1K higher on the bazaar for a single, but hey,the bazaaronly goes up to 6K. Hehe.

Marketing is definetly important in this game. Here are a few things I like to utilize:

(word of mouth is not listed, because it not something you can control, you can't force people to talk about product.)

1) As mentioned above, place the item up on popular bazaars, in the item description include your name, the wp to your shop and other important information

2) Barking Driods, these work pretty well, they don't last that long, but if you aren't doing anything that time consuming, just drop one off in Coronet and let it go.

3) Wear your Master Chef tag and make sure you are searchable. I've gotten tons of orders just by wearing this tag.

4) Utilize your galaxy trade forums. Though not everyone reads the forums, you may capture an audience you may not have gotten to before.

5) Pass out free samples. I doubt it will break your bank account to give away single stacks of Brandy or Canape.

6) Follow up is important, but I personally prefer to not send out emails (some people consider this spamming), but I do send /tells to people who are currently buying off the vendor. All you need is a "Thanks!"

7) Customer Satisfaction is one of my main goals. Even if it means giving away a free crate or two. I was stocking my vendor one day and someone was there looking through my stuff. They sent me a tell, they were 10k short to buy the crate. A little observation showed they were clearly a noobie. So I gave the guy a price break. A few days later when the player managed to get more money, he came back and bought another crate. A little generosity can create a loyal customer.

8) Label your foods. Whether your store has a name, or you just use your own name. Actively labeling your food really helps. Make it obvious you made it. Players frequently share foods and drinks on hunts. A player impressed with your foods will go back and get more.

9) Give back to the community. By supporting events you will not only hopefully have a good time, but get exposure.

10) Advertise on the Planetary Map. This is one of the easiest things you can do to advertise, and it definetly works!

i don't send thank you tells to everyone, but if it's a name i don't know already and they're buying parwan nutricake or smugglers delight, i ask if they know how that food works, just because those are kind of non-obvious and i'd hate for folks to eat the smugglers after the spice, for example.
