Which item is the best mix of low resources and high complexity to grind for the gazillion hours it takes to get one line of fs crafting?

Actually, there is a better grind item than the swirls, it's just in the Master box so before the FS grind it was pointless.

Thakitillo gives you 350 xp (367 in practice mode), has no subcomponents, and requires no creature resources.

Ok Time for a little math:

One line of fs = 1.225 mil FS crafting EXP

Food is 5:1 so it equals 6.125 Million food crafting exp

Thak is 350 each so 6.125M/350= 17,500 Thak

Resources= 437,500 Greens and Fungi, 350k each of Soft Wood and Water

Time= (Assuming6 seconds per Thak, just counting the pauses in my macros so its probably more)

17.5k * 60= 105,000 Seconds = 1750 Minutes = 29.16 hours Per line.

For all 4 lines =

70k Thak

1.75 Greens, Fungi

1.4 mil Soft Wood, Water

116.67 hours of grinding

Thats a lot of grinding.

btw it is 3 am here and I suck at math so if anyone wants to check it feel free, I will get back to you in approx 29.16 hours.

I also have the same info written down for Thaikatillo so it's correct. Practice mode gives you 367 experience, but that extra +17 is pretty much offset by assembly failures.

Since Thaikatillos require 90 resources, the experience per resource ratio is 4.08. This seems to be one of the best out of all craftable items besides smuggler spices.

Kiwik Swirls give 273 experience (3.41 xp/resource). Although Thaikatillos are better for grinding FS experience, I craft both depending on what my static flora farms harvest.

There is a pretty detailed breakdown of this in the FS forum, sorry I don't have the clicky. The best "bang for the buck" in terms of crafting items for FS xp is actually smuggler spice. This allows the most xp for the fewest resources and has fewer combines than several other options.

Out of curiousity, what was that based off of? The majority of crafted items in the game give xp = roughly 2x the number of resources. Spices give 4x, but (after the revamp) so does food. Since all crafting xp (except architect and general) convert at the same rate of 5:1, I'd think they'd be equal.

Ok, I take that back. I just checked swgcraft, and based on the data there, the top-level spices all give 252 xp and use 45 resources (so 5.6 xp per resource when done in practice mode). Thakitillo (while giving the best xp gain in chef considering only schematics with no creature resources or subcomponents) earns you 367 xp, uses 90 resources, so you get just over 4 xp per resource. So you'd need less combines with Thak, but use up more resources.

For me it is a time issue not a resource issue though, if it cut the time down to half i would spend 10 times the resources.

Another option is to make Protatos. They give 100 experience each, and eating them gives you an additional 50. The 5 organic and 20 vegetables are pretty basic and yields 6.0 experience per resource.
