Thread: Best place to harvest insect meat?

Greetings fellow Chefs.

For those of you that do your own hunting, I was wondering where your favorite place to get Insect Meat is. Meaning, what planet and what creature.

This would be for Vercupti, yes

And while I'm at it, same thing for Carnivore and Herbivore meat.

Anyone like using those Harvesting Droids?

I'm grinding CH now so I'm doing a lot of hunting, thought I might as well get some meat at the same time.

Thanks in advance!

My rangers friend says Endor.

Well, you go where the meat is good , but yes, Endor is the best place for sheer quantity. You can spit in any direction and hit an insect on that planet.

As for droids, never hunt without one as well as a large supply of veghash. Makes a huge difference, even as novice scout

A good trick I use with the results is to sort it by Creature Level, descending. In general, the higher the CL, the more you harvest from the corpse. Find something with a high CL (thatis still manageablle), use Veghash and a harvesting droid and you're set.

Oh, and since it hasn't been explicitly mentioned (may have just been an assumption by the other posters), use swgcraft.com to find out where the good meat is. When using "Find resources", you can enter in stat percentages to get a rating. When searching for Insect meat, I put in "DR: 75, OQ: 25" to find stuff for good 50 fill vercupti. For the other types, I usually stick to "PE 66, OQ 33" since that determines the buff size (although I try to avoid ones with Flavor or DR too low).

Although some galaxies have other resource-tracking sites, so updates may or may not be reliable.

Thanks!

I was just asking for personal preference though, obviously the better meat in shift would be the most worthwhile harvesting.

I don't know if I just bought a stupid harvest droid, or I'm not using him right, but it gets aggroed very easily, and then runs around like meatlump. I'm constantly telling it to follow me and trying to taunt off the attacker too. Do other people that use these droids have similar problems? I could just store it while i'm fighting and call it to harvest later, but I was hoping there would be a quicker solution.

Does the Veghash stack with the droid? I didn't have much time to test it before my dumb droid conked out on me. Can't find any of those droid stims either =/

I find they don't run as much if you don't group them with you. They still do against big stuff like Kimos, but not against smaller things.

Guess I'll invest in a Harvest droid then

Thanks for the advice

Yes.. harvest droids can be very annoying. Try hunting rancor with them! (current good spawn is dath carn on my server)

Best solution is to get a droid made with 5 harvest + 1 combat module. It doesn't get quite as high of a bonus - the one I got was +93 instead of +113 - but will you get lots more meat since it won't be running away all the time. You can also get armor & good ham if you manage to get a droid engineer to custom make you one. Just don't forget the droid stims in order to keep it alive if it gets attacked (since it won't be running away to save itself).

Dathomir insect meat is also easy to harvest a lot - I found this out not that long ago when I decided to pay 75cpu for it (which seemed pretty low to me for insect meat). I ended up with like 1.3 million units and I think 3mil in the bank! Of course now I'm glad I bought so much but boy was that scary.

What i tend to do is use swgcraft to find the resources, choose the highest level creature (for higher meat/hide/bone drop).. After that run missions from an improved job market city. Also it helps if you can get into a solo group now, since this doesn't affect harvest rate. On approaching the lair i dismount about 100m from the lair and call the 110 droid, move in and harvest away, Helps if you can make a macro to auto /tellpet harvest command, as you can just click a button

By far the best place for insect meat(quantity i mean) is endor. I don't believe in pulling missions for them either. You can get 2-3 times more spawns on a wild lair then one generated by the mission terminals. I use endor to grind fs with my alt, and there is nothing better imo for xp or resources than wild merrek lairs. Also angler lairs are very worthwhile and rampant. Be sure to be buffed with disease and poisons buffs also. I like to add cho nor hoola on top of it for the most protection. Hope this helps
