save up- bought a +5 food exp tape- attached it to my crafter's apron and it disapeared? Is this common? are there rules in place with how AA's and CA's are attached? The apron already has a +5 +5 as everyone knows. Why was it taboo to put another +5 into one of the sockets?

You can't stack attachments of the same type. You should have used it in another clothing part.

Bad luck and lack of research. I feel badly for you, but at the same time, after doing all that hunting for a CA and tracking down one at a reasonable price, I wonder why you didn't look into how it was to be used before sticking it in something. I suppose that if you'd just come into the game and had never *ever* heard of a clothing attachment, that you wouldn't have any reason but to think that it'd all stack, but with all of the resources available in this forum regarding our chef suits (yep, we have to wear full suits because the tapes don't stack), and the fact that it looks like you've been around for quite a while, it just seems like you might know better. I know for certain that if I purchased a CA for that amount, I'd make darn sure that it was going to work in whatever I put it in. That said, it does hurt the first time you lose a tape that you thought would stick. Sorry, buddy.

Yeah I'm an oldtimer- been around since july 03 but never been a crafter until I made master chef a couple of weeks ago so the stacking of CA's wasn't someting I put much thought into really. I will now but what an expensive lesson.

IMHO, this is the developers' fault. I don't think it's reasonable to require players to do careful internet research to learn how to avoid the logistical pitfalls in the game. Unfortunately I don't see this situation changing anytime soon, because SOE would either have to (A) fix the rampant bugs involving AA's and CA's, or (B) characterize them as "features" and properly document them in a place non-geeks can easily find and trust. The QA at SOE is far below the level required for either of these things to happen
.
If it makes you feel any better, I eagerly placed my long-awaited +5 Two-Handed Melee Speed AA in an Armorweave Belt the other night, only to find out afterwards that I can't wear the belt at the same time as my PSG. Yeah, I guess I could have prevented this by being an uber-forum-geek, but I'm just not into doing internet searches like "AA belt problems" every time I want to do something mildlyrisky in the game.

Lol. Being an uber forum geek could have saved you from sticking your long-awaited attachment into someting like a belt though.
I do agree that we shouldn't need to do this guess and check thing every time we want to make an attachment stick. If it says it's a 2 handed speed +10/med. experimentation +10 CA, both mods should work. Completely ridiculous that we players have had to figure out how to use these things solely through trial and error.
