Thread: Things to Produce at Novice Chef?

Greetings Again Chef Community,

I just recently acquired novice chef, and was wondering if there are any products in which quality does not matter (thinking particularly to alchohol, may be incorrect) while at Novice Chef so I do not have to worry about them in the future. Also, I have a couple of other questions about the Chef Profession as well:

- I've been told that it's almost necessary to be a 12 point chef in the business, I'd like to hear some opinions on that.

Any feedback is appreciated.

EDIT: Took out one question, answered by the FAQ.

Well, all subcomponents don't matter as far as quality, which includes alcohol, soypro, dough, etc. Of course, the only market for those are other chefs. You can see if any chefs on your server would be willing to "subcontract" out to you for components, but this business model is hit-or-miss for most people.

I wouldn't say it's necessary to be a 12 point chef, although it certainly helps. I've been a chef for....{sheesh} about a year and a half now, never had anything beyond the crafter's apron, and I do ok. Although my definition of "ok" may differ from yours: I just recently broke 10 million in the bank for the first time ever. A lot of that can probably be chalked up to some bad business decisions (spending a lot on resources of a type I didn't really need in that quantity, not advertising as much as I should, etc), plus I recently relocated to a much more traveled player city which has helped a lot.

I think the key is really to watch out for good quality resources (to make up for the lesser amount of experimentation), good customer service, a well-stocked vendor, and prices scaled to the quality of what you can make. Oh, and location, location, location.

Most of my customers are only interested in Brandy, Ahrisa and Vagnerian Canape, which you can't make at novice chef.

But some of the lower level foods I keep stocked and see sell infrequently. Though I like to use them if I'm hunting by myself or with some friends. But as for non-experimental products...I don't think you'd do well there. Its fairly easy to get veggies or ceral in mass amounts to make those components. But I suppose it couldn't hurt making them and asking around different chefs. If it doesn't sell, then you'll have alot for yourself to use when you get farther into Chef. But I wouldn't expect to make a bundle of money from selling Alcohol or Dough to other Chefs.

Happy Cookin!
