Thread: Starting kit for a chef?

Hi there!
I just finished Master BE/ Master Chef. As a noob in this buisness, I'd appriciate some help getting started. What equipment will I need? What is critical and what can wait (until $$$-status is better)?
For now, I have bought 2 food factories, some more harvesters, an apron (+5 mods), and, of course(!) a kitchen master hat!(no mods, but 3 sockets).
Would appriciate all help getting started. Crafting stations stats? Droids? etc etc
Regards

There's 3 things you'll need to get started...
1. Resources
2. Resources
3. Resources
lol... but seriously, you should focus on acquiring some high quality (PE/OQ and FL/DR) organic resources. Look at the foods you want to make, or other chefs make on your server, and find out what resources they require and start collecting them.
If you're low on cash, you probably should start with the artisan foods (get 4400 artisan for full exp points) and sell those. They require very few resources and can sell for a nice profit. Get some Micronutrient Supplement additives from a BE, turn them into Light Additivesand start making stuff like Blob Candy, Teltier Noodles, Kanali Wafers and try to start bringing in a little income.
Just have to always keep an eye out for available resources that you can mine, as it is much cheaper to do it yourself. Start advertising by placing items on the bazaar with your vendor location, post on your Galaxy Trade Forums, and make sure you have the vendor search enabled. If you have a friend with a high-traffic shop already, see if you can put a vendor in their shop. It may be slow going at first, but if you're really dedicated you will stick with it and it will pay off in the long run.

Thanks very much. And what about experimenting? Should I buy a droid with medical 110 and food crafting unit installed. Or will I need a crafting station in my house for best results?
Well, the medical module won't do you any good as a chef.
The crafting modules in droids are a little vague. I think it's generally accepted that a 40+ quality station does give better results than the droid with a food/chem crafting module, but no one really knows by how much. A droid may be equivalent to a +0 effectiveness station (which is the quality of the public ones), or maybe a +22 station. It's also a little unclear on what those numbers "mean". If you have a "base of operations" that you come back to a lot, you might as well get a crafting station.
Personally, I've got a 43.xx quality crafting station in my house, but I also have a droid for when I feel like cooking up something for myself out in the field. I tend to see better experimentation results with my station, but not drastic enough to disqualify the utility of the droid.
Yeah, I LOVE My crafting droid for making subcomponents... and I just found out you can craft while still on your speeder, I have no clue when they put that in, I was always dismounting first lol

It really makes things easier, I just gotta break my habit of dismounting all the time...
