Here is my second correspondent report.

Just a few notes:

This is a rough draft. I hope I have shown that I really want this to represent the community as much as possible and that I do listen to suggestions.

I have taken out milk and eggs because it looks like the developers are already working on it. I have also taken out the harvester issue from the last report because I saw it mentioned in the architect correspondent's report.

One thing I was unsure of if I should go with quality over quantity. Meaning, do I want to put in all new issues and get as many in as possible, or do I want to bring up old issues to stress how important they are? I am could go either way.

So read it over, let me know what you think and I will post an second draft probably late Wednesday.

Developers,

Thank you once again for reading over the complaints of the people pursuing the chef profession. We see the potential fun in this profession, but we also see that there is a lot of work that needs to be done.

Also, thank you for the improvements you have already made. We see that you have added a way to get eggs for our recipes (is there a way to get milk as well? Hint hint.) I am also pleased that you are going to be putting in fixes for experimentation. While this was not on our list last week, it was something we were all concerned about.

Here are the top 5 problems with the chef profession for this week. Some of these are repeats from last week, but they are extremely important to us.

1. Usefulness of Buffs. Right now, we make the weakest products in the game. Scouts, Smugglers and Doctors can outsell us because the buffs of their products are so much better than ours. We have trouble making money right now because our food is not worth the resources put into them. Right now, the only thing our food is really good for is pet food. One common suggestion I have seen on the boards is increasing the time a buff lasts. Right now, no buffs that I have seen last longer than 15 minutes. In beta you mentioned making them last for hours. Can you please put this back in?

2. Progression of Schematics. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to where you put schematics on the skill tree. Our best buff is in Mixology II, in the middle of the skill tree. For the most part, a Homemaker can make better food than most chefs. We need to see a progression of schematics with the lower ones being in Domestic Arts I and the best being with Master Chef. And we need to see a clear line between the two. Right now, as we climb up the tree we are not seeing better schematics as we go, and that is very discouraging for us. We need that ding, that reward for a job well done.

3. Broken Schematics. As people have moved up the Chef tree, we have discovered several broken schematics. The Wedding Cake, for example, does not seem to give any buffs or benefits. Double Dip Outer Rim Rumdrop and the Terratta do not even load at all. Nobody has been able to find the hydron-3 inert gas for the T’illa-T’iil. We would request a developer to go through and make sure all the schematics are working, and that we have the resources to make them work.

4. Food and Drink Bars. On the character page, the food and drink bars need work. I don’t know if they are bugged or they are designed badly. I am not even sure what they are for. I thought they measured how full we were, while others are telling me they are suppose to measure how long our buffs last. Either way, sometimes the meters do not seem to move at all. On a side note, there has been several requests for ways to tell when a buff is about to end. Some have suggested an optional meter to put on the desktop or, and my personal preference, getting a system message telling you that the buff is about to end…a message telling you that you feel weaker or something along those lines.

5. Bazaar. We would like our own category in the bazaar. If you must, put jewelry under clothing and give us our own edibles category. Also, please stop putting spices under food. It is too easy to get the two confused and giving chef a bad name. (There is also the question of why an illegal substance can be found on the bazaar anyway…)

And finally, my personal request. My goal as a chef is to own and operate my own cantina. Right now I don’t like the way cantinas are set up. If anybody can heal battle fatigue in their own houses, why would they even bother coming to a cantina? I also think that cantinas should have their own schematics to that they are more recognizable at a distance. I think you should also do this for shops and medical centers. It will add more variety, make it easier for people to find them and just over all improve the feel of player cities (even though we don’t have them officially yet.) As things stand right now I don’t see how I could make a living running a cantina if nobody can find it and there is no reason to go there.

Well, that is it for this week. As always, feel free to come into the chef forums to say hi. We really are nice folk. And we promise to put away the cutlery.

Did i miss something? Did they fix the factory issue?

I'm just asking because it was a heated debate before, and haven't been around much to know if it's been "fixed" or if the chef community decided it wasnt' a priority.

Thanks

They have not fixed the factory issue. I didn't include it because it was a bug, where the stuff that I did include from last week are more balance/development issues. I see balance/development issues as more complicated.

Still, if you would rather talk about the factory issues I can bounce bazaars to another week. Boingy boingy.

Factories are still screwed up for food. And since you no longer make good exp off it, my factory is making meds now. You know, meds come in multiple uses as well (30 uses for stim c's for example) and amazingly I get the full amount from my factory!

Excellent job.

I have just become a chef myself a few days ago, and am really looking forward to it becoming a fun class. Just my 2 creds: #1 should always be #1 until it gets fixed. The only people buying my food are my friends, because they feel sorry for me that I'm always broke and get no business. Other than them, the only people coming into my cafe just to shoot my vendor and leave. Until we can offer something that viably competes with spice and/or stimpacks, there won't be much need for us.

Just because I thought it was a GREAT idea and would make our progression SO much friendlier, if I were you I would add a little blurb in #2 about letting experimentation add points to the Cooking line. Right now, at novice chef, I may as well not experiment at all because 75% of the time I make the stats worse (and believe me, they're already useless) and I can't even fathom the amount of time I'll have to spend grinding up the Cooking line to make this improve. What is that,700 or so wastril breads just to get to the first level, so I might be able to make a wastril bread that someone may actually want to eat? No thanks.

Again, great job.

I would like to see the factory issue mentioned again, as this is the #1 problem for all Chefs who wish to supply their guild with buffs, and the simple ability to use Experimentation to make the best schematic you can and then mass produce a great item, like every other artisan in the game.

Factories also tie into a UXP problem: we only get UXP on the last item in the stack.

Let's kill 2 birds with one stone:

----

"
Factories. If I make a schematic for K-18 Rations that says it will produce a stack of 5 rations, and I run this schematic through a factory, it will produce only single K-18 Rations. This wastes resources and experiment points. Also, these individual foods produced from the factory will not stack with each other.

We would like to see factories produce stacks of foods like the schematic calls for, and since these stacks will all be identical, we believe we should be able to stack them with each other. To solve the UXP issue this would cause, we believe chefs should get UXP based on 20% per food item eaten, rather than full UXP being given only when the entire stack is consumed. This will result in us getting less total UXP for recipies that make small stacks, but more UXP for recipies that make large stacks, so the effect should balance.
"

----

IMO, this is far more important than getting our own bazarre catagory. I and most chefs I know on Chilestra run our own vendors. You only need Business III in the artisan line to have a vendor, and you can put a lot more than 20 items on them.

Factories are still shafted, and are now more useless to a chef than ever.

Factories = You pay cash & power for the privaledge of having items take 10x longer to make, cost 2-11 times more resources to make, and for 10% of the XP....

It's only useful for making soypro, carbo, dough, alcohol. protato etc. Forget using it for anything else at all.
With Cullinary Master, I can get 10gwouch per stack with poor resources, so I can get 10000 for the resources a factory makes 100 :/

To me, this is still a major issue. I dont care about the bazaar listing tree, people that want food can find it easy enough

I agree on the bazaar being a lower priority than factories. It does really annoy me that spices clutter up the bazaar, but people are using vendors more and more anyway. And even if you don't get biz IV and a house for your own vendor, I've gotten multiple requests to stock other merchant's vendors so I think it's not too hard to find a market. On the topic of vendors btw (general artisan issue), it really sucks that you can't trade vendors anymore and can't put a vendor in any house other than your own even with vendor permissions.

SirVimes : Doing a great job so far, I just hope they actually listen to you and fix something

On the milk/eggs, I need to remake my TC char, so does anyone here have a char they can test with on TC to see if they can get milk ?

D'amn, these boards are a pain in my rear!

Ok, will add in factories and take out the bazaar.

I do think the bazaar is an important issue, though. It would go a long way to getting people aware that food is out there and it can help you, a long way to getting people to buy food. Also, I know several people who are no longer buying food because they bought spice off the bazaar and had bad side effects.

But hey, if I am outvoted then factories are in. Thass cool.

Hydron-3 Inert Gas is in the game. On Chilastra it's on Naboo and Tatooine at the moment.

The chef needs a total rework all the recipes need to be redone..

the higher level ones are debuffs just as much as buffs it takes all your experimentation points to balance out the debuff..
