Chef Archive

Right now I am at Domestic III. I have Engineer I and Surveying IV as well. My goal is to become a bartender, but right now I'm having a few problems. For one thing, if I call myself a bartender, people start asking for drinks I can't make yet Plus I'm also a "vegetarian chef" which is my way of being too lazy to try to pay for any meats or hides at the moment.

I figure if I can at least make it to Domestic IV I will at least have enough variety to actually roleplay as a bartender/chef and get away with it. I have 2700 or so crafting XP and it's looking like it's going to be a relatively tough grind to get up to 6000 as I am only able to play after work and on weekends.

Here's some questions for you guys/gals who are already at least inthe chef tree:

1. Should I just go ahead and bite the bullet and dump 1000 of my xp into Engineering II so I can make some more marketable stuff?

2. I've seen a few posts that say anything you make before chef level whatever is pretty much useless; I beg to differ, at least it seems like the lower level foods are good for newbies or as small buffs; and most folks will take them if they're into roleplaying. Any ideas what makes the best XPs at the level I"m at (keeping in mind the potential for getting UXP as well...)

3. Any other suggestions?

Well, Kanali Wafers are great for XP, but require hides... Some scouts will give them away dirt cheap or for free, so you can try asking some scouts for free hides.

If you think 6000 XP is a grind, you should seriously consider another profession. You need over 19,000 XP to get novice chef, and every level 1 chef skill takes 32,000 food crafting XP. Keep in mind that the most food crafting XP you can get at a time when you are a novice chef is 70 XP, 73 XP with practice. Just giving you a heads up. Of course, the XP requirements for all elite professions are pretty steep, but in some other professions you can make much more XP per item at novice.

I probably should clarify. I really just want to get to a point where I can actually call myself a bartender and serve drinks without having folks ask for relatively simple drinks that i can't make. Right now I think I might be able to do that once I get to dom IV (or possibly novice chef); at the moment I'm not focusing on grinding my way up to master chef any time soon. I just want to get over the big hump.

And, the previous recommendation to make soft undershirts was a SMASHING success! Took me about 30 minutes to get the 4000 xps I needed. I needed to shell out a ton of money for the fiberplast, but I had to fly to Theed to get it anyway, so I just grabbed a few delivery missions along the way and made almost enough cash to cover the cost of materials. Now I'm about 9xp away which I"m hoping should accrue by the time I get online tonight (assuming UXP actually works when you're offline, if not no big deal).

im halfway to chef and ive been grinding travel packs and starshine suprises

are soft undershirts better?

if you have access to TONS of fiberplast and petrochem you can get to novice chef in one night from dom3 grinding softunder shirts. I got novice chef in 4 hours (all 19k xp) about just sitting next to a bazaar terminal and using two crafting tools and practice making undershirts. You'll dump a ton of cash most likely but its money well spent

Multiperson camps give 50-52x each. Cost 8 hide and 4 bones. Going up the scout tree I harvest around 4-5k hides and about 3-4k bones.

Well about 2 1/2 weeks ago (before they nerfed weapon powerups xp) i just crafted tons and tons of barrels for 6 mineral and 4 chem a peice getting 40xp from each of those.

I was at chef in no time.

I dont think the barrels give good xp anymore so i would just do what these guys are doing.

As far as money goes just take jobs making food (Bofa Treats are easy)for all the Creature handlers out there and sell em for 80-100 creds each. you should get an easy 2k atleast for each job. that should cover some resouce cost. and plus doing that only takes about 15 minutes if you have 2 crafting tools or more.
