Hi
im looking for a break down (simple version) of what each skill line in chef gives you.
entrees and deserts i assume gives you more schematics and the mixology and cooking...... do they increase the quality and experimentation?
i cannot master chef im just looking to get enough skills to be able to add my nice BE enhancments to. which line gives me acess to the most usfull schematics and or quality of item (resource quality aside that is)
i Have 20 maybe a little more to spend on chef skills so i need to be spot on
thanks to all for help.

entrees, desserts and mixology gives you more food/drink to make, cooking gives you experimentation points and assembly points so you can improve the food/drink you make.

20 points does not give you much room to climb up a tree to get to the good stuff and still have points for experimentation ![]()
Oh and is that 20 point to use after Novice chef?

20 points will get you Novice, and one full line only, or 2 first tier boxes and one second tier.
Chef really isn't a profession you can dabble in IMHO, you wont get very good results.
Mixology is a drinks line, cooking line is the experimentation line. Entree's and Desserts are both food.

If you ever get tired of BE (I know I did! **edit** stupid customers!) you might want to get Chef and keep the tissues tree

Im not interested in being the best, or making the best stuff, i just want to have fun.
so no competition. I have many more points to use now, i will complete mixology and do one of the others to full so i can make a few top items,
thanks for your replys guys

Honestly I would be suprised if many chefs were worried about competition from dabblers. The low number of experimentation points really lowers the quality. Maybe some are, but I'm not worried myself. The people that are in it just for credits will soon realize that it isn't that easy. Those who want to do it for fun, will enjoy it immensly.
With that said I would still go up a few lines in cooking. While you don't need to since you can just use a tissue to increase it if you want, to me at least it would be more fun if I could do a few different variations. Even just 3-5 points will allow for that.
After that I would suggest at least a few boxes in mixology and then a few boxes in one of the other trees. Look at sciguy's guide in one of the links to see which food you might prefer. Some boxes in each will allow you to make some food and some drink which you can take at the same time. If you just went up 1, you will limit yourself to half of the bonuses.
