Thread: Chefs food and mind healing
I think I have an idea for a little love for the profession of Chef and something to heal mind damage.
Let the gimps unite!
OK here is my proposal
It seems logical (for a balance standpoint)
Currently no one can heal mind. Dancers, chefs docs and spices and buff it, but we all know there is no healing mind.
Foods have a built in timer. You can only eat so much, and you can only eat so often.
This does not take away the advantages of mind damage. It still has power.
But this does take away the absolute power that mind damage has.
This prevents docs from infinite healing.
You can only eat so much so you would only eat when it was really needed to get that one emergency heal off
For players it means something to fall back on when the rifle is pulled out.
And lastly it gives loves to a profession often overlooked and unloved. While chefs might end up jut making "mind food" more then anything else, I am sure people who don't have healing would still make use of the limited other foods chefs can make to heal other stats.
Is this if nothing else a passable temporary solution to mind damage and its lack of being healed?
MAkes no sense...
stuffing youself with 20-80 like heals where you could also eat a vercupti an regen that in a gimpse ..
The buffes provided by food are better then being healed in small amounts?
Is this what you are saying?
whe point of this proposal was to balance out mind healing.
It also seems that few people really seem to take advantage of chef's foods.
This would be an added product chef's can make.
I personally would use food for healing before buffs any day.
I would rather use stimpacks for real healing, spices and medics for buffs.
The idea of the chef is to provide mobile buffs, thus eliminating the need for buffbots - however that isn't happening due to the Chef being more broken than a broken thing, but the idea is there.
Buffing the tertiary stats is in fact a way of healing, as the hifher they are, the faster the primary regenerates. If they ever sort out the balance pass, we may see food & drink buffing more of the secondary & tertiary stats at the same level as Sunburns, in which case, your primaries will regenerate very fast
I often do missions with sunburns & thakitilo and no stim packs.
I dont think any chef wants to make a healing item ...
Giving chef an ability to heal mind with an ability would work but not a item they can craft and sell..
Say a Cantine of a special drink they could have people drink and it healed there mind.
In AC there were multiple ways to heal each of the three bars.
Potions (alchemy), mages (spells) and for health healing packs.
There were no "mana packs" like for health. So mana (the blue bar used for casting) could only bea healed through potions and transfer (sacroficing one bar for another) spells.
I figured chef is a lot like alchemy in AC.
Unloved until they could make mana potions. Then everyone wanted to be one and it was (and still is) a lucerative business for people who stuck alchemy out in "the hard times".
I find consumables good ways to heal. They cost to make (sink for econ) they have a constant need (somone is taking damage) and not everyone can make them.
But if even CHEFS don't like this idea, is a dog ![]()
Well...how about if food that buffed a primary stat, like Fishak buffs mind, affected that stat instantly.
For instance, eat a Fishak, you get the +500 mind instantly instead of the gradual regen, and it lasts for the normal duration. I think this would make food more appealing, and it would help us sell the less popular short acting buffs.
A +150 to action buff that lasts 100s is pretty cool if it saves you from getting incapped because you gobbled it just in time. The fullness bar would keep this feature from getting wildly abused.
