Do factories give the same amount of experience per item as a crafting tool? And how long does it take to make one item?

Yes they do, but you have to be online (and possibly within a certain range or on the same subserver). They take significantly longer than doing it by hand

I have always found that as long as I stay online and on-planet, when I return to my factory (and thus it is forced to update) I get all the XP in one go, its nice to see the bar jump like that.
My factory is often 'out of the game' as its in a remote location on a remote planet, not many people wander past to force an update.....

Does anyone know off hand how much experience you get when your factory is making an item? I have heard half the item exp value and I have heard you get the full item exp value. I do realize that you must be logged on to get the item exp as well.

Now that factories are working, is there any word on when they will be corrected to give Medicine Crafting experience?
I don't know about the rest of you, but I didn't sign up as a Combat Medic to be a crafter. I don't mind doing it, but since I am a Doctor as well there are about 20 different things I need to make. Then you can't have just one of those so you have to make them in bulk. Factory crates are a great way to reduce inventory clutter so everything I can make in a crate I do.
The problem is I don't get any experience this way. Since I have pretty good Doctor's crafting I can pump out Simt B's to sell and I've made a lot of supplies that I've donated to newbie medics. But at this rate I'll never get those last boxes of Combat Medic Crafting without a major grinding session.
I'd like to avoid grinding, it was bad enough when I was trying to be a serious Doctor going to the med center registering and waiting for patients, that was way to similar to punching into a job than any game should be allowed to feel, ever. I don't want to repeat that by going into the game and sitting at a crafting screen for hours. If there was a way to macro the whole thing so I could at least chat with my friends while I'm doing it, but the best macro stops for you to load resources and if you miss it the whole thing gets thrown off.

Do you get experience for items produced in a factory? I'm new to crafting so I'm a bit curious about how factories work.

Yeah, real low though. I think 10% or some other low number. Better to just do it by hand.

What AynRand said. They patched this since people were gaining XP too fast early on.
