So I've been trying to keep about 3-4 planets on my server updated for the past couple weeks on SWGCraft.com. I started out doing everything, but then I realized I was going to go insane, especially since I don't really care about most of the metals/gas/chemicals. Now I'm just doing flora.
What I noticed is that metals are mostly in the database already, but flora never, ever is. Does that mean that flora resources spawn once and then are never heard from again? Or does that mean that people just don't keep flora updated very much and so most of the resources that respawn aren't in the database?

Flora are ALL planet specific. That means that, for example, you have 10 different berries at any given time because there's Endor Berries, Dant Berries, etc
Minerals, chems, gases and energy are NOT planet specific so at any given time the same resource can be spawning on 4 different planets (or more, or less). This makes survying for floras much harder than the others of course.
Other planet specific resources: Water & all creature resources
No resources are ever repeated - they are all unique. They are only already in the database because someone else found it on another planet first.
Oh and just an FYI flora spawns can last between 5-21 days.
