If this is already in a thread, please just direct me there. I am doing this in my 10minute break and dont want to waste time searching and not finding. Just looking for what characteristics of a resource (DR, Flavor) are taken into consideration when you are experimenting. i.e. my water for ruby biel has high OQ, but 300 DR. What does that hurt in experimenting. I dont expect anyone to write it all out for me. Just an idea would be great. thanks, got to go.

Never fear, the upcomming resource buff will sufficently dumb down the profession to where you will be able to use virtually any resource to make quality stuff. Mabey when this hits I'll give Armorsmith and Weaponsmith a try as well.

Ignore him, I'd like to see him use OQ400, Flav 300, DR 200 stuff and turn out quality food.

To answer your question, each stat on the food has it's own set of resource requirements.

For example, consider Spiced Tea.
It has 4 stat, Filling (filling), Flavour (duration), Nutritional Value (power/effectiveness) and Quantity (stack size).

Filling is 75% dependant on the Decay Resistance of the resources, and 25% dependant on the Overall Quality. To get a good filling stat, you'd want something extremely high in Decay resist, and as high as you can get with OQ. As you can see, even a small amount of variation in the DR will have an effect, whereas the same variation in OQ wouldn't be so dramatic.

Having said that, Flavour depends 33% on DR and 66% on Flavour. So you'll want to get a high Flavour value, along with a good DR.

So, so far we need high DR, high flavour and ok OQ. We're beginning to push our luck here (unless you've got a few 100k blocks of 950+ to all those stats kicking around ) and we're only half way through.

As for Nutritional Value, this is how effective the food is. That relies 33% on OQ, and 66% on Potential Energy, so now we need to find a resource high in PE along with the other stats.

Quantity determines the stack size, which is then modified by the container type you're using.
That relies 25% on DR and 75% on PE.

As you can see, there's not many stats which share the same resource quality requirements.

You might want to tailor the food according to what you want the final product to turn out like. Concentate on high DR and OQ when making ruby, for example, for the low filling you'll get.

Anyway...bit long winded, but I hope it helps

That was a much better response than the Lazurus post yes, but there is always a resource available in any class better than the one you listed so it is about to be alot less important than it is now
