Hi guys, I know that the temptation will be there to yell "Read the FAQ, n00b!" but I hope that you will understand why I'm posting here instead.

I've gone through the FAQs and picked up some useful hints and inspirations. I'm currently a MBH, have been so for more or less 2 years. I'm sick of the treadmill that NPC missions have become, and sick of the incredible amount of cash I have lavished on guns and armour, only to get bad mouthed by the jedi once I attack him. I'm a friendly guy, and play this game to have fun

Anyway, I'm really keen on going for chef/0400BE/merchant now, and taking the life of a CL1 for a while

The reason I'm posting is because I'm in the enviable position of having a bit of cash saved up to afford the lifestyle of Gordon Ramsey from the start (ask Higgins or any other Brit, he'll know who he is ). If you had enough cash to take the easy route from the start, what would you have done? A +25 exp/assembly suit is the obvious choice, but what about components? I'm gona be looking out for the "best of the best" before I even take up novice artisan, so any suggestions for what I should hope to find? Suggestions of great spawns on Farstar would be nice

I'm hoping that this isn't gonna make you all mad enough to tell me to go away, but I'd love to be able to pick up the hints of the best chefs in SWG before I go spending my cash on wasted kit and components

I can't tell you about spawns since I am on Starsider but your best bet is to first find the best fruit you can find. You will use A TON of fruit. This is a short list of what I always look for:

Crystalline Gemstone (QL doesn't matter get a ton of it)

Fruit (QLwill matter)

Cereal (once again QL doesn't matter)

Berries (QL matters)

Hide (QL matters)

Water (high and QL)

That should be enough to start but you need a ton of stuff that is just some of the items I use a lot and always make sure I have 500k or more at all times. I am sure others will have input too. GL with chef, and welcome to the best crafting prof currently in game!

I started off at the top end and biught my suit and my resources. PE OQ matter and I would get as much Fruit, Berries, Wheat, Wild Rice, Dom Wheat, Tubers,Water that you can get yoru hands on.

Also BE x4x4 is needed as the experimentation comes from xxx4. Don't forget your chef buffs are from dancers. Sub component quality doesn't matter (even whan it's a food) and if you can seriously afford it, get a 14pt artisan suit if you are human or 12pt if you are not as it helps.

Get to know some contract miners and get 500k-1m of anything good if you plan to go long term. Oh and you wil need milk and meat as well so get to know rangers. If you can pick up xx1x tailor for trim then do so. if you are havign 2 or more sets of vendors and time is limited use someone to make your components for you. if not then make them yourself....

you will want a lot of factories, and a way to organize your storage houses so that you don't waste time going 'where did i put that wild rice arrrrrgh'. at 0404 BE you'll be buying heavy tissues so you may want to stock up on some of those now, they're in vegesparine and mandalorian wine, 2 of my biggest sellers. oh the mando wine schema can be real pricey but IMO is worth it, that's another thing.

if you make your own light additives you will go thru more grind water than you can possibly imagine. same with grind fiberplast and inert petro for trim, if you make your own with 0010 tailor, and crys gemstones to turn that into casks.

you'll want meat and flora for the BE tissues, OQ/PE/Flavor matter there but DR does not. sometimes very high OQ wood works in those, so you probably want a stash of that. and one thing i did early on was put harvs on really nice flora spawns even if it wasn't a type of flora that i thought i'd use...and i ended up using all of them! some foods just call for organic, so you can use whatever you have.

what i wish i'd done earlier was better organization of my lots. i now have it all sorted out, so that my toon with survey has just 2 houses so 7 lots free for nice spawns. i keep an alt with 10 free and another with 4 free, and i usethose to get grind stuff on my home planet (naboo) after i survey a spot on the chef, and sometimes for nice spawns too. if you'll be buying everything that won't matter to you, but figured i'd mention it in case you will be harvesting your own too. i borrow lots from friends for some storage houses, and have all factories/other houses on the same toons so that they just stay static, but it took me a long time to get that all organized so that i could keep track of who had free lots, slow learner here hehe.

template-wise i can't live without 4400 artisan and merchant on my chef char. i recently put BE on an alt, so that i could make my own heavies and go ahead and master artisan on the chef since she has all 4 lines anyway.

oh recyclers! if you can get a creature recycler, you'll love it for milk. i use my flora one for grind cereal and my chemical one for watertoo, but the creature one is a must IMO. they can be expensive, even if you build you own buying the parts can be expensive, but you don't sound the type to go out and hunt your own parts so i'd suggest shopping around for those

I'm pretty much in your same position. I started off with 2 or 3 foods and began experimenting with recipes. I used the vendor search option to find some good resources and played with them until I was happy. Also, a few friends helped me out with some good resources that they never use!

Chef is a big prof. I found using a divide and conquer method worked well for me. I chose 1 food that I know sells well, master that recipe, then move onto the next. You learn alot as you go, especially if you have some chef friends who can answer your silly questions. Also, keep an eye on swgcraft.com or use a resource kit to check current resources. I've been very lucky and have found some very nice current spawns on valycn (berries, water, beans, meats etc). Also, become friendly with some rangers who can get you the good creature organics fast when they come in spawn.

Chef exp tapes are going pretty cheaply, but artisan exp is more expensive. Get a hold of a +25 chef suit and a +25 artisan suit, then work on getting assembly tapes to finish em off.

good luck!

Find the link to the post cu food chart. Register with www.swgcraft.com hopefully you have access to 20+ lots if so go out and buy harvesters for all of them and a large supply of power check out whats in play under current resources in swgcraft. And then decide what your looking for. I'll tell you what i will even tell you the stuff you wanna look for on your server

Niga, Corellian Berry Fruit

Eehoudelkat, Dantooine Vegetable Fungus<<<<< Very Good fungus DR=835, FL=765, PE=979, OQ=951

Avassowreo, Yavinian Wild WheatOnly if you can spare a 1-2 harvs. Don't need much of it 100-200k should last you a very long time.

Aelavauhno, Tatooinian Wild Rice Decent stats for mando if you ever choose to make it be a good idea to collect.

Anyway thats a list of decent stuff thats in play that is listed of swgcraft. You should also look for good meats in large quanitys. Most servers run between 5-10 cpu for good flora maybe more if its very rare and high demand. Best to harvest your own and buy good stuff cheap with vendor search.
