Thread: Duration of buffs vs. recast time
I'm a novice chef, tailor, and armorsmith, and I'm aware that the length of times posted for various things (maintenance for factories, power for harvesters, etc.) weren't necessarily corresponding to real-life times, so the first thing I've done is to actually time a food/drink buff listed as '480s'.
This time, it actually DOES correspond to real-life time: 480s = 480 seconds.
My problem is that a meter appears in the character sheet for food/drink and won't allow one to eat/drink again for a VERY long duration of time. This is equivalent to a 'recast time' in Everquest, and I think it's too long in relation to the duration of the buffs.
There are two solutions: increase the duration of the buff or decrease the recast timer.
Personally, I would rather have a longer duration of a buff for my character, but if folks are allowed to consume more of the chef products by decreasing the recast timer, our market would probably improve.
What says the group? It think I'd like to have a bit of both.
One of the fundamental problems with our buffs is that player characters are already over-powered in the context of the game. Our buffs have the potential to make that worse.
I'm not sure of an answer, but chefs and their buffs are definitely NOT very sought after at present. This will undoubtedly be looked into as class balancing occurs as the game begins to mature.
That's actually very helpful--I didn't realize the character sheet food/drink meters might be malfunctioning.
I'll try to discover the specific time before a 'recast' can take place. I'll fill up one meter and keep attempting to consume more food or drink until it lets me do so.
I don't know if the recast time is dependent upon the food or drink that was originally consumed or if it's dependent on some multiple of the buff duration.
It is dependant upon what you are consuming, and how it was crafted. In the schematic you will note that Filling is one of the experimental components. I don't recall for sure, but I believe it is connected with the flavor/texture portion of the schematic (which generally effects duration)
