What are crates and how do you make them?

Crates are produced from factories, they basically consolidate stacks of food into 1 unit that is easily carried as it takes up less inventory space then having the same amount of stacks not in a factory crate. In the food biz, crates come with 25 stacks of whatever you produced.

I thought you got xp, but it was just less than the "standard" amount... or is that the whole factory bug I keep hearing about? (I can't afford a factory at the moment -- I can barely afford to keep 10k in the bank. )

Supposedly you are supposed to get some xp, very small but some, but you have to be within the radius of the factory, and even still I dont think its working.
