errrm lemme make some more to check that...I have a tendency to ignore the % on final products and just look for buff numbers/seconds (except for servings which well % is the only way)

With the higher pe fruit nutrition was maxed at 84%...

with the lower pe fruit nutrition maxed at 93%...

please do tell

Oh, and if you could tell me the gas's OQ, I could probably do some more mathemagical voodoo.

The trick is to only trust the Air Cake schematic.

Buff Effectiveness: 22% Flavor, 33% OQ, 44% PE

You take the stats, multiply by the percentage, weight by the number of resource units, add them all up to get a final score. 1/10th of that final number is the maximum percentage you can experiment that category to.

So:

Fruit #1: 0.22 * 528 + 0.33 * 707 + 0.44 * 999 = 789.03
Fruit #2: 0.22 * 1000 + 0.33 * 698 + 0.44 * 975 = 879.34
Difference = 879.34 - 789.03 = 90.31, which means 9% higher maximum experimentable nutrition

The actual "Nutrition" value will also get some from the gas, since the above numbers would indicate a maximum of 78% and 87%. But since you're using the same gas in both combines, it's contribution cancels out when you do the subtraction. The flavor does affect the nutrition, and while it's only half as much as PE, the fact that you gained 480 flavor and lost only 14 PE made the difference you noticed.

To find the "final" value of the weighted nutrition you'd do this:

( 0.22 * FruitFlavor + 0.33 * FruitPE + 0.44 * FruitOQ ) * 20 / 40
+ ( SomeCombinationOfGasStats ) * 20 / 40

The "20 / 40" weights the final results based on the units of that resource compared to the total number of units in the item. Since gas doesn't have PE or flavor, I'm not sure how that part is set up. Components don't affect the percentages, they just add a flat bonus to the final Buff/duration/quantity, so you have a larger maximum with experimented aludian/carbosyrup.

Um, although halving the fruit's contribution means that the difference would've been 4 or 5%, not 9. Maybe the gas doesn't add anything to that category, and the additional percentage points come from somewhere else...

Can you tell I've spent far too much time with crafting schematics and spreadsheets?

errm Ill take some pate and fishak and get back with you once I have a clear head LOL thank you for that (I think) heheh Ill see if I can make heads or tails of it in a bit as right now I cant concentrate enough to follow all that

Hehe, no problem, I probably went really overboard. The short answer is that Flavor, PE, and OQ all affect the buff size and duration, just not equally. Use the percentages in the Air Cake schematic and you won't go far wrong.

Hmm so those schematics taht say effectiveness is 50% flavor is probably wrong? Aircake details are pretty much how everything should be broke down?

I have seen anecdotal evidence that this is the case in using various ingredients for Fishak.

My fruit with higher overall stats does give me a betterNutrition experimentation than my high PE only fruit.

For final items, I haven't noticed anything glaringly wrong when being guided by the Air Cake schematic, although I don't usually do all the nitty-gritty calculations. I save that for when I'm trying tomake my uber-nerdiness obvious to all.

For components (the only place I remember seeing a 50% flavor), Idid some tests on carbosyrup and the listed percentages didn't match up with what I could experiment to. I'll see if I can track down my notes to be sure, but I think the Air Cake numbers worked out about right for the "Nutrition". The "Flavor and Texture" is harder to pin down, since the "Filling: UT 100%" tends to hide out in there, at least until they give Filling it's own category.

Ok, Im running low on my fruit Ive been using in my fishaks so I found another good fruit to use...

and this is what happened.

I made both of these using the exact same factory run of alu and carbo...with exact same ingredients except the fruit.

Using fruit with 528flavor,999Pe,707OQ I made +567Mind (nutrition maxed) -4actionfor 756s in 11 use stacks.

Using fruit with 1000flavor, 975PE,698OQ I made +593 Mind (nutrition maxed) +1action for 788s in 10use stacks.

I tested this several times and it was consistant. So what gives here...the higher PE fruit is producing a lesser maximum product. Is flavor effecting the buff size even tho we typically say PE is buff size? thoughts?

Did the nutrition max at the same percentage with the two types of fruits, and either way what was/were the percentage(s)?

I predict that you could experiment the nutrition percentage 9% higher with the new fruit (using the same gas). Let me know how close I got, and then tune in as I reveal the secret...

wow... there should be more calc involved... maybe if we used your position from the center of the planet you are crafting on versus a fixed position on the planet closest to your current planet.. then we could get some rotating coordinate systems in there...

yeah... YEAH!!
