Thread: My Confession
I am posting this because a lot of people have been asking me questions...and this is all I am really allowed to say for now...
I got a confession to make. I saw a rough, rough draft of the proposal to revamp the chef profession. And I have to tell you, I am really excited about it.
I cannot tell you much about it right now because, as I said, it is a rough draft. A lot of what I saw will possibly (likely?) change before it becomes final. What Itell you now may not be the case when things are approved. Even if all the details are changed, however, as long as the developers head in the same direction I am going to be extremely happy and I think all of you will as well.
I can't tell you when it is going to be coming out, eitther. Sorry. One reason is because redoing 89 schematics takes time and they are not finished with planning. Secondly, now that player cities and mounts are out the developers are figuring out their project schedules for the next few months. I can say that for those of you who think that chefs are going to be a low priority because there is so few of us, that is not going to be the case. Our food is going to effect everybody, so we are fairly high up on the list of priorities.
Soon it is going to be a very good time to be a chef. When I was a kid, my favorite thing about Christmas was watching others opening their presents and seeing their reactions of others. I really can't wait until I see all of your reactions.
If you are fed up with the lack of developer attention, just stay with us a bit longer. What is coming next is just going to be so cool!
Woot, good news and an honest answer, SirVimes for president!!!
...but I can't help but notice other than the 89 schematics being changed you didn't actually tell us anything
"Quickly people! He's cracking under the pressure, let's suck him dry of information before he clams up! We'll need a good cop, a bad cop, a hard metal chair, and a bright light to shine in his eyes...
My concern (which is probably shared by many) is that know that the buffs issue is fixed, we can unload our stockpiles of resources and start cranking out cases of foods.
Then suddenly, we will be gifted with info about our changes and evrything we have done since today will make us cringe as we will have wished we saved our resources for our "Chef love" patch.
How long will we have to sit on 998 OQ reactive gas? How long on the Carnivore meat with 900+ in 3-4 categories?
I love being a Chef. I'd love it more if I had something to look forward too now that I am a Master, instead of just making sub-par stuff until we get our overhaul which we can't discuss?
Help me out here please.
Nope, I didn't really tell you anything.
I got a couple of posts asking for more information, and now this is my official answer. ![]()
I have also been trying to get people more optimistic lately, and when they ask my why...well, this is my answer.
Only answer I have right now.
Actually, SirVimes has told us more than you may realize just with this one sentence: "Our food is going to effect everybody, so we are fairly high up on the list of priorities."
This means one of three things.
1) SirVimes is wrong (or at least greatly overexaggerating).
2) Chefs will be affecting more than just stats.
3) The devs are completely redesigning crafting so that one's stats affect their profession.
Food has zero impact on crafters at this time, because one's stats do not affect the crafter. One could argue that Sampling uses stats, but that's such a small point because most crafters don't sample by hand. Same goes for Surveying - I'll grant you that more crafters Survey than Sample, but I have a hard time believing that food is needed to help anyone with Surveying (at least prior to #2 going into affect).
I would bet #2 is the current plan. SirVimes, I'm guessing you've been sworn to secrecy, so I hope your statement hasn't violated your agreement. Their is "wiggle" room in what you said so its not like you actually told us that food will affect more than stats.
Honestly I always thought a good thing to do would be let chef's make full course meals. They can only be eaten in a cantina or in your home. You have to be sitting at a table to eat them, and when you are done your stats are boosted like a docs buff and for the same amount of time. However it would take about eight mins to eat the full meal. This way you could let chefs mix and match what a full meal would be. You could have a type of drink that would boost the mind, then add a little fishak, with a little veghash, and some other stuff to get the stats maxxed out like you want them. It would allow for some amazing custimizations and recepies for you guys and for those of us who eat it.
But... ya know that's just my idea I could be totally wrong.
Thanks, SirVimes for at least letting us know something is in the works.
Maybe I'll have most ofchef tucked away before the patches hit so I'll be able to enjoy the changes.
I hope you're right SirVimes, however, being a SOE customer for 4 years plus and frustrated most of the time when it comes to "so called fixing" things.. I won't hold my breath until I see the end product.. Normally what we see is this:
Food ABC with 100 pt buff, -50 mind, keeping you full for 10 minutes, but only last for 5.. will be changed to this.. Food ABC1.1 with a 200 pt buff, -10 mind, keeping you full for7 minutes, but last for 7.. however, by the time it actually goes live will finally become Food ABC1.2 with a 110 pt buff, -40 mind, keeping you full for 9 minutes, and last for 6.. This way SOE devs can say that improved ALL 4 critical areas of food.. Granted it will only be a 10% boost overhaul, but hey.. I'm sure they'll end up putting a good spin on it..
I quit EQ because of SOE's lip service song and dance.. I hope this time they actually will follow thru with something meaningful and correct..
Thanks
Thanks Vimes, best correspondent in the game.
Also: If changes suck, you will be the worst ![]()
SirVimes, I hope that if you are that thrilled with the rough, rough, rough draft, that they don't blow it and polish it up too much, cuz now you got me really excited!
