Thread: Must glasses be identical?

Im away from my gaming machine so I cant check this out myself right now, but I was just wondering if you need to use identical glasses/casks/barrels whatever in factory runs? Im wondering because I realized today after checking what items were needed for the current schematic in one of my factories, it listed Large Glass#: (except where the # is, was a square box) and did not have a serial number listed after it.

That leads me to believe that you could basically throw any old large glasses in there, but I have no way of confirming right now. Anyone know how this works?

No. I've used a combination of handcrafted and factory run glasses on the same schematic. So it appears that a glass is a glass is a glass.

Well you cant experiment on large glasses and the materials you use make no difference. So every large glass is the same as every other large glass made on every server. So they are all identical.

So i would guess not. I need to test this.

hrmm, by that same logic, can you use any alcohol? The only difference I see is that schematics refer to 'Identical Alcohol', but if you cant experiment on the stuff anyways, it would make sense you could just use whatever you have laying around

I've been using old components...so far it hasn't made a difference compared to the new featureless stuff...

From the looks of it any component is the same as any other component of the same type.

Final word?

You can use any glass of same size, doesn't matter on serial #.

(sub) components do not matter to final food stats so you can use either pre patch alcohols or post patch alcohol (same serial# per recipe) and you won't gain any advantage by using PU-36 except that you already have it and don't have to make an alcohol run until you run out of PU-36

All gone. Nothing to see now. Bye Bye Ahazi most of you guys were cool

If the schematics lists a serial number then you need to use that exact one. If it doesn't, hand made, or different factory runs work fine. This isn't a specific thing for chef. It applies to crafting in general. Architecture is the biggest one that takes advantage of this. There was also a time where weaponsmiths didn't need the same serial numbered krayt tissues for guns.

This is a darn good question! I noticed the same thing last night. I'm at work now so I know that I can't check it either. Anybody else????

I can't say for sure, but in architecture, that little box means you can use any kind of thing in that category. So, you should be able to use any kind of large glass. Good luck.
