The chef changes should have been like this.......
for drinks the alcohols should have been what they used to be and would add the mod to the final product u are making, instead of just using regular alcohol.
same thing with soypro.

The advantage to being able to experiment on componenets is it widened the gap between foods made by a master and someone not lower in the tree. The advantage to the new system is you can use grind quality for your components.
I liked the old system myself but that's because I have 12 experiment points. ![]()

In both the old and the new system, some components (Carbosyrup, Dough) which are quite common are actually in the artisan profession. So removing experimentation from them removes the problems with chef feeling they are required to be a master artisan to make food.
Also, with components in most other professions, you can see what components add to the final product (Power for weapons, protection for armor, BER for Harvestors, Power/Charges for Stims). Food components don't have an equivalent modifier for components. Unless you count filling, which is bad, without any good.
The gap in food is created by the range of stat requirements on ingredients. The combination of different ingredients is huge. Way more than professions with very narrow ingredients requirements.
It requires a lot more work to figure out which ingredients are best for which recipes (you won't likely use the same milk in Blue Milk as in Sweesonberry Rolls, unless you have the perfect milk, or you're too lazy to calculate which is better)

Ezran have you taken say...bivoli and made it with the best stuff you have...then with the worst stuff you can find and actually looked at the difference. Not only do the ingredients not matter in the components anymore but they barely matter in the food, at least the non-stat food which is now like what 2/3 of our menu? Sorry but its not worth 3 hrs of finding the best resources every other day anymore just my buff can last1 minute longer than someone that used all 200 stat resources. I was able to see a difference in the stat food of about 50pts of buff but unfortunately as its been drilled into our heads over and over...chef is moving away from stat food. By having a very small range from min to max in all areas of the non-stat food and by giving each item onlyone or two bars where experimentation points can be used efficiently they have basically taken out the reward for investing time in resources and you could just about say skill tapes and effectively forced food to experimented in the way they felt was best for item.

Now that's an argument I can agree with. Unfortunately, Everyone has been focussing too much attention of Stat buffs, they haven't really looked at the usefullness/fun of skill buffs.
You're right, there isn't much of a difference when it comes to those.
